Book excerpt: The Evolution Arti?cielle cycle of conferences was originally initiated as a forum for the French-speaking evolutionary computation community. Previous EA m- tings were held in Toulouse (EA’94), Brest (EA’95, LNCS 1063), Nˆ?mes (EA’97, LNCS 1363), Dunkerque (EA’99, LNCS 1829), and ?nally, EA 2001 was hosted by the Universit ́e de Bourgogne in the small town of Le Creusot, in an area of France renowned for its excellent wines. However, the EA conferences have been receiving more and more papers from the international community: this conference can be considered fully internat- nal, with 39submissions from non-francophonic countries on all ?ve continents, out of a total of 68. Out of these 68 papers, only 28 were presented orally (41%) due to the formula of the conference (single session with presentations of 30 minutes) that all participants seem to appreciate a lot. The Organizing Committee wishes to thank the members of the International Program Committee for their hard work (mainly due to the large number of submissions) and for the service they rendered to the community by ensuring the high scienti?c content of the papers presented. Actually, the overall quality of the papers presented was very high and all 28 presentations are included in this volume, grouped in 8 sections which more or less re?ect the organization of the oral session: 1. Invited Paper: P. Bentley gave a great talk on his classi?cation of int- disciplinary collaborations, and showed us some of his work with musicians and biologists.

The Restart Mindset shares guidelines for optimal self-management and human performance to upgrade your life by retraining mind and brain. This book is an invitation to take charge of your mindsets, beliefs and behaviors to jumpstart your life. Who needs this book? Reinvention should be considered in these life disruptions: Being out of a job (unemployment is a pandemic by itself) Being forced to change careers A painful divorce Dramatic changes in the workplace Laid off for a very long period Having to start a business The death of a loved one Having to move to a different city or country Being forced to quit school Having to lose weight Need to begin self-employment Lifestyle alteration for health reasons A serious accident or illness Those of you who feel stuck, stranded, cornered or forced to do a life redesign after a critical setback will find this book very useful, either to regain perspective or find inspiration to relaunch your life. The author delivers compelling arguments to teach you how to reinvent yourself by evolving your thinking and learning to exploit the mind-body connection. López-Portillo is an entrepreneur, writer and former university professor and researcher. He is an organizational culture expert, and this is his second book. He firmly believes a crisis is a great launchpad to restart in a new direction, transcend and live an extraordinary life. These are the five principles for personal reinvention that serve as foundation of the book: 1-Change can only happen when you truly master your brain 2-You can change only if you firmly believe you can change 3-To modify behaviors, you need to first change mindsets, beliefs and identity 4-You change by doing, practicing and repeating, not just by knowing 5-Sustainable change means a new lifestyle and automatization of new habits The world after 2020 left many people in need of life changes, professional makeovers, personal transformations or turnarounds. Sometimes to thrive, other times just to survive. Sudden life disruptions, mid-life transitions or middle-age crisis require personal reinvention. This is a great book for those over 30, over 40 or over 50 who need a clear and practical do-it-yourself guide to engineer a life makeover to restart in a new path. It's also great for anyone seeking to build a new beginning after a lay-off, career change, divorce, partial retirement, bankruptcy, burnout, sudden unemployment or a broken heart.

Book Foundations in Grammatical Evolution for Dynamic Environments

Download or read book Foundations in Grammatical Evolution for Dynamic Environments written by Ian Dempsey and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-04-07 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamic environments abound, encompassing many real-world problems in fields as diverse as finance, engineering, biology and business. A vibrant research literature has emerged which takes inspiration from evolutionary processes to develop problem-solvers for these environments. 'Foundations in Grammatical Evolution for Dynamic Environments' is a cutting edge volume illustrating current state of the art in applying grammar-based evolutionary computation to solve real-world problems in dynamic environments. The book provides a clear introduction to dynamic environments and the types of change that can occur. This is followed by a detailed description of evolutionary computation, concentrating on the powerful Grammatical Evolution methodology. It continues by addressing fundamental issues facing all Evolutionary Algorithms in dynamic problems, such as how to adapt and generate constants, how to enhance evolvability and maintain diversity. Finally, the developed methods are illustrated with application to the real-world dynamic problem of trading on financial time-series. The book was written to be accessible to a wide audience and should be of interest to practitioners, academics and students, who are seeking to apply grammar-based evolutionary algorithms to solve problems in dynamic environments. 'Foundations in Grammatical Evolution for Dynamic Environments' is the second book dedicated to the topic of Grammatical Evolution.

Book The Evolution of Song and Dance in Hindi Cinema

Download or read book The Evolution of Song and Dance in Hindi Cinema written by Ajay Gehlawat and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-05-21 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exploring the evolution of song and dance in the popular Hindi film, this book examines how these quintessential elements have been and continue to be theorized. As song ‘picturizations’, as they are frequently called, have evolved, shifting from little more than impromptu moves around tree trunks to highly choreographed affairs featuring scores of professional dancers and exotic backgrounds, their theorization has also developed beyond the initial, peremptory dismissals of earlier critics. Featuring a landmark collection of essays from leading theorists, as well as newer contributions from up-and-coming scholars, this book develops new and exciting ways of thinking about song and dance in Hindi cinema and, in turn, explores how these elements work to (re)define popular Hindi cinema in the twenty-first century. This collection will be of interest to students and scholars of Hindi cinema, musicals, and global popular cultures. It was originally published as a special issue of South Asian Popular Culture.
