Book A 21st Century Christian s Quest for Truth

Download or read book A 21st Century Christian s Quest for Truth written by Lowell JK Davis and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-08-20 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Any book that attempts to assert basic truth about the origins, nature and relationship of humankind with the Earth and universe we live in is inherently controversial. Throughout human history truth claims have been based on authority, faith, and observed evidence. Each of these sources of truth have changed truth claims over time. Only about 500 years ago any fool could observe that the earth was a flat surface (not a sphere spinning at about 700 miles per hour at the equator) with a sun that traveled above the surface of the earth about every 24 hours(23 hrs and 56 min). In a very short period of human history our evidence or observation based truth claims have expanded exponentially as we have advanced our unaided human observations. Examples include: space based instruments that transmit vast amounts of information about an unimaginably large universe; atom smashers that provide knowledge of the smallest element or force within an unimaginably small atom; seismographic instruments that can analyze and map deep inside the Earth; glacial ice core analysis that tell us a lot about annual climates and major earth events on a year by year basis over hundreds of thousands of years in the past; recent advances in radiocarbon and radiometric and other dating methods that provide a reliable chronology of Earth and plant and animal life over the past 4.65 billion years; oceanographic vehicles that explore the extreme depths of the oceans that cover the majority of the earth’s surface; and, instruments that allow humans to study the very basic sub-microscopic elements (DNA) that make up plant and animal life. This book does not claim to be a fully documented scientific or religious text. It is based on one persons extensive research of authoritative sources. Even research requires evaluation of sources and subsequent conclusions. Thus, this book is proposed as an editorial opinion based on one person’s “quest for truth in the 21st Century”.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does God exist? Man has not been able to give a credible answer to that question despite advances in knowledge. As a result, the world remains confused about religion, and whether to believe claims made by "sacred" books like the Bible and the Quran. Is it true that unbelievers would end up in Hell? Did God give Moses the Ten Commandments and the other 600 laws of the Old Testament? Did God reveal the Quran to Prophet Muhammad? To answer these and other questions, In Search of Evidence looks at passages taken from various Scriptures. It contends that while we may not be able to conclusively determine whether God exists or not, there is enough evidence to determine whether the contents of the "sacred" books of the world's religions were revealed by an omniscient being [God]. Religion does not need to be taken on faith. This book provides a framework for meaningful and objective, rather than a faith-based search for the truth....

Book God The Evidence

    Book Details:
  • Author : Patrick Glynn
  • Publisher : National Geographic Books
  • Release : 1999-03-30
  • ISBN : 0761519645
  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book God The Evidence written by Patrick Glynn and published by National Geographic Books. This book was released on 1999-03-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the modern age science has been winning its centuries—old battle with religion for the mind of man. The evidence has long seemed incontrovertible: Life was merely a product of blind chance—a cosmic roll of an infinite number of dice across an eternity of time. Slowly, methodically, scientists supplied answers to mysteries insufficiently explained by theologians. Reason pushed faith off into the shadows of mythology and superstition, while atheism became a badge of wisdom. Our culture, freed from moral obligation, explored the frontiers of secularism. God was dead. "Glynn's arguments for the existence of God put the burden of disproof on those intellectuals who think that the question has long since been settled." — Andrew M. Greeley But now, in the twilight of the twentieth century, a startling transformation is taking place in Western scientific and intellectual thought. At its heart is the dawning realization that the universe, far from being a sea of chaos, appears instead to be an intricately tuned mechanism whose every molecule, whose every physical law, seems to have been design from the very first nanosecond of the big bang toward a single end—the creation of life. This intellectually and spiritually riveting book asks a provocative question: Is science, the long-time nemesis of the Deity, uncovering the face of God? Patrick Glynn lays out the astonishing new evidence that caused him to turn away from the atheism he acquired as a student at Harvard and Cambridge. The facts are fascinating: Physicists are discovering an unexplainable order to the cosmos; medical researchers are reporting the extraordinary healing powers of prayer and are documenting credible accounts of near-death experiences; psychologists, who once considered belief in God to be a sign of neurosis, are finding instead that religious faith is a powerful elixir for mental health; and sociologists are now acknowledging the destructive consequences of a value-free society. God: The Evidence argues that faith today is not grounded in ignorance. It is where reason has been leading us all along.

Book Solving Religion with Logic Logical Proof That God Exists and the Bible Is All True

Download or read book Solving Religion with Logic Logical Proof That God Exists and the Bible Is All True written by Paul Kasch and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2013-02-26 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can a religious truth be logically proven, or is religion forever relegated to being a matter of blind faith? If there is a true religion, shouldn't we be able to prove it by now, using scientific data and higher mathematics? This is exactly what Paul Kasch sets out to do in his latest work. The reader is invited to follow along in the investigation process as we:• Establish an unbiased, neutral mindset• Look around at the environment we find ourselves living in, and attempt to solve the question of our existence• Gather the world's major religions, logically arrange and dissect them, and require them to present demonstrable truth of their claimsThis book would not exist if the quest failed. Using nothing more than the reasoning prowess we are all born with, a solitary (yet timeless) religious truth emerges as the equation of the only sound logical argument capable of producing such a thing. Use your head for something other than a hat rack and join the author on an intellectual journey which renders all other pursuits trivial by comparison.
