Ethan MacCarrick was a heartbreakingly handsome rake until a powerful nobleman ordered him brutally beaten and his face scarred for a crime he didn't commit. Ethan's reprisal—bankrupting the nobleman and forcing his exile—does little to appease his wrath. Ten years later, a haughty, mysterious beauty enchants Ethan—the daughter of his enemy. At last, Ethan will have the revenge he's craved; he'll promise her marriage, seduce her, then cast her aside. When Madeleine van Rowen's family was suddenly plunged into destitution and dishonor, she steeled herself against further heartache. She never weakened, never trusted, until a towering, scarred Highlander relentlessly pursues her, breaking down her defenses. The passion between them burns hotter than Ethan's fury, and soon he finds he can't let her go. But when Madeleine uncovers the truth about him, can Ethan convince her to accept all he now offers—when he once destroyed everything she had?

Book Beyond the Shallow How Suffering Led Me to the Deep End of Grace

Download or read book Beyond the Shallow How Suffering Led Me to the Deep End of Grace written by Michelle Bates and published by . This book was released on 2019-11-11 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: See the lavish grace of Jesus's love for you... As Christians, we commonly portray grace as something that comes to us in the form of a paycheck and healthy bodies. By wading into the deep end of suffering, I have learned that God's grace is much more evident in the mire and dung of life. Amid deep pain and suffering, I found myself at the grace-filled cross where his glory is revealed in the unseen as I struggle with what is transient. Michelle grew up in church and believed in what she calls Christian karma: Do good, get good. She adopted this unspoken mantra during her teen and young adult years and even into her early married life. But when suffering came to her door, she returned to the Scripture to learn the truth of the gospel. She learned to see grace through the loss of expectation and the loss of three of her six children. As you read this book, Michelle's hope is that you will see the lavish grace of Jesus's love for you, and-if you are walking through immense suffering-that you will understand Jesus is most certainly enough.

Book New to the Game

Download or read book New to the Game written by Mark Schoedl and published by Page Publishing, Inc. This book was released on 2020-08-18 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There appears to be a distance between the person one presents and the real person hidden beneath the veneer. Many more people from all walks of life have surrendered to their image to achieve recognition, to make ends meet, or to live the quiet life away from all the hullabaloo. One cannot escape one's fate no matter how hard one tries. So perhaps the impossible is possible, "just be yourself." Many laugh behind their breath at this supposition. However, does winning a game or holding onto fractured relationships make your world a flawed yet wholesome endeavor that you can rest your hat on? These are questions we all ask ourselves in our own private lives away from the hardened world around us. Since we only have now, perhaps it is time to feel the disparate sorrows and pitfalls we have created and to walk out into the world anew without all those pent-up preconceived notions that we cannot seem to shed. After all, our egos are as fractured and sullen as everyone around us. It's a new day. Who knows what today will bring? I too fall within this conundrum. My stories reach into what I have seen and experienced throughout my life. I cannot make sense of what the game of life has offered me. Even in America, things are quite bleak when I cannot seem to muster the effort to confront them just because I need to survive like everybody else. It is hard for all of us. So let us drop the supposition that "just go along to get along" is our calling card in this world. After all, it is only a world that we have accepted as the best of all possible worlds (Voltaire). I refuse to accept this as my path. Path? Is not this world a pathless land? My sixteen stories from my new book, New to the Game, run over the same conflicts and escapism that many have held onto over the generations, and yet some daring persons see their own masked reality, feel its searing anguish, and let it fall to touch and feel new worlds—worlds they had no idea existed until they have had enough of their own biased and contrived ideals.

Book The Heart Led Leader

Download or read book The Heart Led Leader written by Tommy Spaulding and published by Crown Currency. This book was released on 2015-10-06 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times bestselling author Tommy Spaulding shows you how looking inwards--and leading with your heart--can transform your life. In his New York Times bestseller, It’s Not Just Who You Know, world renowned leadership speaker and former CEO of Up with People Tommy Spaulding talked about the power of building genuine and lasting relationships both personally and professionally. In The Heart-Led Leader, Spaulding turns his focus to ourselves--to who we are. Authentic leaders, Spaulding says, live and lead from the heart. The values and principles that guide our lives and shape our ability to lead others is far more important than our title, or our ability to crunch numbers, or the impressive degrees we display on our walls. To effect true transformational change, heart-led leaders draw on the qualities of humility, vulnerability, transparency, empathy and love. Illustrated with stories from his own life, and from some of the exceptional leaders he has met and worked with over the years, Spaulding unpacks what those qualities mean, talks about the 18-inch journey from the head to the heart--from our intellect to our emotions--and shows us how to incorporate them into our careers, into how we manage and lead others, and into how we live our lives. It is a vision of leadership that has the power to transform everything we do, and the lives of everyone we touch.
