Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What has to happen in order for an event to be classed as a miracle? Our Revolutionary war was full of events that many call coincidences but were they really miracles and evidence that God did indeed intervene in our behalf so that we won that war'. Here we explore ten of those events so you can determine in your own mind if they were just a coincidence or indeed a miracle. I have hosted a weekly radio program for three and a half years called Uncle Sam Says and now host a podcast of the same name. I tell true stories of our Founding Fathers. My purpose is to help all ages to honor, revere and fall in love with our Founding Fathers so that they will also honor, revere and fall in love with those great documents they created, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. I have uncovered hundreds of miracles along the way and have chosen 10 of my favorites to list in this small book. Of course I believe they are all miracles and that they should be taught as such in all of our schools. Until then it is my hope is that this book will reach as many as possible. To help achieve that goal I am including the audio book of the entire book as part of your purchase. you get both for just one price! What has to happen in order for an event to be classed as a miracle? But some events are so profound, they not only change the course of history, they also manage to leave a legacy so powerful, it can be called world-changing. This book looks at 10 of these events - from the discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus which brought about a radical change to the face of those continents, to the attacks of 9/11, which ushered in a new era of warfare and terrorism. Each of the 10 world-changing events is examined in detail - what were the circumstances; who was involved and why; what kind of a legacy has it left; and how is it still relevant to us today? Spanning a significant portion of human history, from the age of discovery in the 15th century, to both World Wars, the birth of modern science and the end of Apartheid, this book not only examines the events themselves, but also places them in the context of other historical events and developments. Perfect for course work and cross-curricular activities spanning history, politics and science; the book includes 10 further momentous events, as well as a timeline that places them in the context of world history.

From the sinking of the Titanic, to the release of the first personal computer, Events that Chapnged the World uncovers the people and minds - along with the influences - behind some of the last century's most significant events. Book In The Course of Human Events

Download or read book In The Course of Human Events written by Mike Harvkey and published by Catapult. This book was released on 2015-04-14 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thrilling debut novel--equal parts satire and morality play--shines a sharp light on the dark and radical underbelly of the floundering American Midwest. Clyde Twitty could use a break, a helping hand. He's a young man lost--in his finances, in his family--and stuck deep within the fast-settling muck of a dwindling rural Missouri town that has, in every way, given up hope. The hand that reaches down, lifts him up, and leads him forward belongs to a fiercely charismatic patriarch named Jay Smalls, a man who exerts a kind of gravitational force--and breeds fierce purpose in those who find themselves caught in it. Not rattled by the increasingly sinister racial undertones of Jay and his posse, and desperate to look forward and not down, for once in his life, Clyde hardly stumbles when the path he's being ushered down takes a dark and irrevocable turn. As he plunges us into the violent spiral of a desperate youth, he explores with unflinching acuity the ugly nature of hate, the untempered force of personality, and the sometimes horrific power of having someone believe in you.

Book A People s History of the United States

Download or read book A People s History of the United States written by Howard Zinn and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2003-02-04 with total page 764 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since its original landmark publication in 1980, A People's History of the United States has been chronicling American history from the bottom up, throwing out the official version of history taught in schools -- with its emphasis on great men in high places -- to focus on the street, the home, and the, workplace. Known for its lively, clear prose as well as its scholarly research, A People's History is the only volume to tell America's story from the point of view of -- and in the words of -- America's women, factory workers, African-Americans, Native Americans, the working poor, and immigrant laborers. As historian Howard Zinn shows, many of our country's greatest battles -- the fights for a fair wage, an eight-hour workday, child-labor laws, health and safety standards, universal suffrage, women's rights, racial equality -- were carried out at the grassroots level, against bloody resistance. Covering Christopher Columbus's arrival through President Clinton's first term, A People's History of the United States, which was nominated for the American Book Award in 1981, features insightful analysis of the most important events in our history. Revised, updated, and featuring a new after, word by the author, this special twentieth anniversary edition continues Zinn's important contribution to a complete and balanced understanding of American history.
