Book Fifteen Minutes of Terror

Download or read book Fifteen Minutes of Terror written by Dale Justus and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-08-10 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dale Justus was a new employee of the United States Postal Service on July 21, 1986. His new job as a rural mail carrier at the post office in Edmond, Oklahoma, assured him great opportunities for the future. It would be nearly a month later, on August 20, that City Letter Carrier Patrick Henry Sherrill came to work with three guns in his mail bag and used two of them to massacre fourteen of his fellow workers and seriously wound six others before taking his own life. Justuss secure future almost ended after only thirty days on the job. There have been several accounts of what happened on that blackest day in the history of the postal service. Some accounts have offered incomplete portions of the truth, but most of these were written by those with no personal knowledge of the facts. It has taken twenty-five years for someone to write a thoughtful, factual account about this unspeakable tragedy. Walk with Justus as he recounts a story that begins years before that fatal day and extends well past the actual event. Experience the terror and unfathomable aftermath with him and the other employees who were at the Edmond Post Office on that fateful day.

Book Adam Lanza and the Newtown Massacre

Download or read book Adam Lanza and the Newtown Massacre written by Pamela Lillian Valemont and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-11-04 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Adam Peter Lanza, just 20 years old, burst into the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut, armed to the teeth and wearing black battle fatigues, and shot 20 small children and 6 of their teachers, he created a hole so big in the heart of their grieving parents and relatives that it can never be forgotten or healed. What caused this young man to commit this unspeakably horrible crime? Pamela Lillian Valemont, the world's first forensic numerological criminal profiler, compiles a chart for Adam Lanza and compares it with some of the world's most heinous mass murderers, like Adolf Hitler, and the youthful Boston marathon bombers, brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. She also looks at the Preppers, the band of people who included mother of Adam Lanza, Nancy. This ultra-right-wing group of fanatics believe that they must prepare for the end times, when economic ruin comes and governments cannot be either trusted or relied upon to protect them from attackers and invasion of their country.

Book excerpt: A comprehensive guide to understanding, assessing, and responding to terrorism in this modern age This book provides readers with a thorough understanding of the types of attacks that may be perpetrated, and how to identify potential targets, conduct a meaningful vulnerability analysis, and apply protective measures to secure personnel and facilities. The new edition of Understanding, Assessing, and Responding to Terrorism updates existing material and includes several new topics that have emerged, including information on new international terrorist groups as well as a new chapter on Regulations and Standards. A vulnerability analysis methodology, consisting of several steps—which include the techniques necessary to conduct a vulnerability analysis—is introduced and applied through several sample scenarios. By using easily customized templates for the screening process, valuation of a critical asset as a target, vulnerability analysis, security procedures, emergency response procedures, and training programs, the book offers a practical step-by-step process to help reduce risk. Each different type of terrorism is briefly discussed—however, the book focuses on those potential attacks that may involve weapons of mass destruction. There is a discussion of what physical and administrative enhancements can be implemented to improve a facility's ability to devalue, detect, deter, deny, delay, defend, respond, and recover to a real or threatened terrorist attack—whether it be at a facility, or in the community. Techniques on how personnel safety and security can be improved through the implementation of counter-terrorism programs are also outlined. An overview of the major counter-terrorism regulations and standards are presented, along with the significant governmental efforts that have been implemented to help prevent terrorist attacks and foster preparedness at both private and public sector facilities and for personnel.
