La passation du protocole expérimental sur les différents échantillons d'hommes, de femmes, d'enfants et de chanteurs a permis de rassembler des données assez nombreuses pour établir une analyse statistique. L'évaluation de ce bilan instrumental a donc fourni des valeurs de référence concernant chaque épreuve et chaque groupe de population. Elle permettra ainsi de mettre ces résultats en relation avec ceux des patients atteints de dysphonie ou de dysodie.

Cette Evaluation Instrumentale de la Voix (EIV) a été étalonnée dans le mémoire de Marie Burgevin dont le présent mémoire constitue le deuxième volet. Il consiste en une évaluation statistique du test sur une centaine de patients dysphoniques répartie en plusieurs échantillons selon leur sexe et leur pratique vocale. Il s'agissait de montrer quelles épreuves de l'EIV mettaient en évidence une différence significative entre sujets sains et sujets dysphoniques, et étaient, par là même, des indicateurs particulièrement sensibles de dysphonie. Cette expérimentation a conduit, en outre, à établir des profils vocaux présentant, pour chaque épreuve, une limite chiffrée de pathologie qui correspond aux moyennes obtenues par les échantillons de patients dysphoniques. Les profils permettent de donner une image de la voix du sujet au moment du bilan vocal initial et de représenter son évolution au cours de la prise en charge, ainsi que l'illustrent les cas cliniques analysés ici.

Once seen by many as a colonial interloper in the South Pacific, by the early 2000s, after it ended nuclear testing in French Polynesia and negotiated transitional Accords responding to independence demands in New Caledonia, France seems to have become generally accepted as a regional partner, even if its efforts concentrate on its own territories rather than the independent island states. But Frances future in the region has yet to be secured. By 2014 it is to have handed over a set of agreed autonomies to the New Caledonian government, before an independence referendum process begins. Past experience suggests that a final resolution of the status of New Caledonia will be divisive and could lead once again to violent confrontations. In French Polynesia, calls continue for independence and for treatment under UN decolonisation procedures, which France opposes. Other island leaders are watching, so far putting faith in the Noumea Accord, but wary of the final stages. The issues and possible solutions are more complex than the French Pacific island population of 515,000 would suggest. The rule of law in international affairs is a question of perennial concern but it is of greater moment these days for a number of reasons. The active agenda of the Security Council and its relative solidarity creates a paradox. Its increased political power is a source of hope but the modalities of the exercise of power present problems of principle and of legal concern. Another area of concern is the International Court, which has had a successful record since the early eighties and provides one of the guarantees of the maintenance of legality. Recent successes of the Court include the effective resolution of the territorial dispute between Chad and Libya. The general level of compliance with its decisions by States is impressive. Yet its success is matched not by encouragement and enhancement of its facilities but by United Nations financial constraints which hinder its work and, ultimately, may threaten its independence in relation to the political organs of the United Nations.

His first assignment was with the University of Paris VI before he was appointed to the CNRS, the French National Research Center. His research was focused on optical pumping, statistical mechanics of quantum gases, musical acoustics and the foundations of quantum mechanics.

I discuss how the issue of language is at the centre of the current cultural and political debates in Morocco. The present book is an investigation of the ramifications of multilingualism for language choice patterns and attitudes among Moroccans. More importantly, the book assesses the roles played by linguistic and cultural factors in the development and evolution of Moroccan society. It also focuses on the impact of multilingualism on cultural authenticity and national identity. Having been involved in research on language and culture for many years, I am particularly interested in linguistic and cultural assimilation or alienation, and under what conditions it takes place, especially today that more and more Moroccans speak French and are influenced by Western social behaviour more than ever before. In the process, I provide the reader with an updated description of the different facets of language use, language maintenance and shift, and language attitudes, focusing on the linguistic situation whose analysis is often blurred by emotional reactions, ideological discourses, political biases, simplistic assessments, and ethnolinguistic identities.
