Book Determination of Sensitive Measures of Pilot Workload as a Function of the Type of Piloting Task

Download or read book Determination of Sensitive Measures of Pilot Workload as a Function of the Type of Piloting Task written by Walter W. Wierwille and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of our present work, is to examine the sensitivity, intrusion, and transferability of a variety of workload assessment techniques. The study will use four different simulated piloting tasks, emphasizing psychomotor, perceptual, mediational, and communications aspects. Pilot loading levels will be systematically adjusted. Our simulation facility is a GAT-1B that has been modified and instrumented for workload estimation techniques measurement. The flight simulator itself has three degrees of physical motion and a full complement of IFR instruments.

Book Human Mental Workload

Download or read book Human Mental Workload written by N. Meshkati and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-09-02 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this volume is to look at the developments and changes that have occurred in the area of mental workload and its assessment since the NATO symposium was held in 1979. This has been achieved by inviting prominent researchers to survey their respective areas of expertise.Examined are the current methodologies, individual differences, unanswered questions, and future directions for the mental workload issue. Particular topics discussed include the properties of workload assessment techniques, physiological measures, heart rate variability, effort and fatigue in relation to the workload experienced during normal daily routines, subjective assessment techniques, and the cognitive psychology of subjective workload. A preliminary proposal for a cohesive model of mental load is presented. A bibliographic listing of contemporary research reports completes the volume.

Book Human Performance Workload and Situational Awareness Measures Handbook Third Edition 2 Volume Set

Download or read book Human Performance Workload and Situational Awareness Measures Handbook Third Edition 2 Volume Set written by Valerie Jane Gawron and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-12-17 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-volume set was developed to help researchers and practitioners select measures to be used in the evaluation of human/machine systems. It can also be used to supplement classes at both the undergraduate and graduate courses in ergonomics, experimental psychology, human factors, human performance, measurement, and system test and evaluation. Volume 1 of the handbook begins with an overview of the steps involved in developing a test to measure human performance, workload, and/or situational awareness. This is followed by a definition of human performance and a review of human performance measures. Situational Awareness is similarly treated in a subsequent chapter. Volume 2 presents a definition of workload and a review of workload measures. Provides a short engineering tutorial on experimental design Offers readily accessible information on human performance, workload, and situational awareness (SA) measures Presents general description of the measure Covers data collection, reduction, and analysis requirement Details out the strengths and limitations or restrictions of each measure, including any known proprietary rights or restrictions, as well as validity and reliability data
