Book Evaluation of Synthetic Instrument Flight Training in the Officer Warrant Officer Rotary Wing Aviator Course

Download or read book Evaluation of Synthetic Instrument Flight Training in the Officer Warrant Officer Rotary Wing Aviator Course written by Robert N. Isley and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective was to determine the training value of synthetic instrument flight training given in the Tactical Instrument Phase of the Army's Officer/Warrant Officer Rotary Wing Aviator Course. Synthetic training in that course is administered in a modified fixed wing instrument training device. One group of trainees received the standard 20-hour synthetic instrument flight training program, a second group received 10 hours, and a third group received no synthetic training. The synthetic training given in the modified fixed wing training device did not increase trainee helicopter instrument flight proficiency in terms of aircraft control and procedural skills. In addition, there were no significant differences among the three groups in attrition, instructor-assigned daily grades, amount of flight instructional time required to complete the phase, and final checkride grades. Book Inflight Performance After Zero Ten Or Twenty Hours of Synthetic Instrument Flight Training

Download or read book Inflight Performance After Zero Ten Or Twenty Hours of Synthetic Instrument Flight Training written by Robert N. Isley and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three groups of warrant officer candidates, enrolled in the tactical instrument phase of Aviator Course, were given zero, 10, or 20 hours of synthetic instrument flight training. End-of-phase flight proficiency measures were obtained from photographic records of the aircraft instrument panel taken during a hypothetical tactical instrument mission. The results indicated generally that there were no significant differences in flight performance among the three groups in terms of the relative incidence of aircraft control and procedural errors. Book An Evaluation of Minority and Female Performance in Army Rotary Wing Aviation Training Volume I Executive Summary

Download or read book An Evaluation of Minority and Female Performance in Army Rotary Wing Aviation Training Volume I Executive Summary written by William R. Brown and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report contains the Executive Summary of the evaluation of minority (Black, Hispanic, Asian, American Indian) and Female performance in the Army's Initial Entry Rotary Wing flight training program. Each minority group was compared to a matched sample of majority students. The groups were matched on FAST score, GT score, educational level, age, rank, and source of entry. The performance of the two groups (each minority and its matched control group) was compared on the following criteria: Warrant Officer Candidate Military Development Course grades; Academic grades by phase of training; Flight performance grades by phase of training; Overall grade; Attrition experience during the Warrant Officer Development Course and; Attrition experience during the flight portion of training. Book Prediction of Success in Army Aviation Training

Download or read book Prediction of Success in Army Aviation Training written by Harry Kaplan and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research programs were conducted involving the experimental testing of 2000 enlisted men, 1200 officers, and 1200 ROTC cadets. At the start of the program, major attention was given to development and evaluation of measures to select enlisted personnel for rotary wing training, including preflight (OCS- type) training to prepare graduates for warrant officer commissioning. A number of interim test batteries, both fixed-wing and rotary-wing, were developed and operationally implemented. In 1963, recommendation was made for the consolidation of the separate selection procedures into a comprehensive program. The report summarizes the important stages in the separate fixed-wing and rotary-wing research and the more recent effort by which results were integrated in the development of a comprehensive selection program.

Book Research on Synthetic Training

Download or read book Research on Synthetic Training written by Paul W. Caro and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two studies were conducted to evaluate a fixed-wing instrument procedures training device and to develop a training program for use with the device. In the first study, a group of trainees at the U.S. Army Aviation School who recieved synthetic instrument flight training with the new device were compared with a control group of trainees who did not. The second study was concerned with development and evaluation of an instrument flight training program designed especially for use with the new device. It appears that the training concepts have application to other programs utilizing training devices. (Modified author abstract).

Book Optimizing Simulator aircraft Mix for U S Army Initial Entry Rotary Wing Training

Download or read book Optimizing Simulator aircraft Mix for U S Army Initial Entry Rotary Wing Training written by John E. Stewart and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Early fixed wing research demonstrated that potential cost and training benefits could be derived from simulation-augmented primary flight training. Unfortunately, more recent research in this area has been the exception, not the rule. This is especially true in the case of rotary wing (helicopter) aircrew training research. The present report reviewed the research literature on military aviation transfer of training (TOT) research, and examined the current U.S. Army Initial Entry Rotary Wing (IERW) Program of Instruction. An in-depth review was also conducted on the recent IERW simulation research performed by the Army Research Institute (ARI) Rotary Wing Aviation Research Unit (RWARU). Review of the IERW TOT research showed that a combination of synthetic flight simulation and criterion-based training had the potential for saving training time and costs in the aircraft. Adaptive training aids such as the ARI RWARU Intelligent Flight Trainer, also showed promise. A research program, focusing on revising the current IERW program to optimize the use of simulation, was proposed. This program would include (a) criterion-based instructional strategies, (b) low cost simulation, and (c) investigation of different combinations of simulator vs. aircraft training events, in order to determine the optimal simulator/aircraft training mix."--DTIC.
