Book Evaluation of Laser Protection Eyewear

Download or read book Evaluation of Laser Protection Eyewear written by Ross Murray (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forty-one commercially available laser-protection eyewear, ten representative frames, and nine Air Force-developed protectors were evaluated under nonstress and stress conditions. Optical density, luminous transmittance, refractive and prismatic effects, haze, metrology, and optical quality were measured and when applicable, compared to ANSI standards. In addition, all materials were subjected to shelf-life, environmental effects, and laser-induced damage tests to determine damage limits and characteristics. The testing methodology, experimental apparatus, structural and spectral changes in the materials, and observations on type and cause of damage are presented. (Author).

Book Field Evaluation of Laser Protective Eyewear

Download or read book Field Evaluation of Laser Protective Eyewear written by George R. Mastroianni and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A group of seventy soldiers at the National Training Center were issued Ballistic and Laser Protective Spectacles (B-LPS). The soldiers were surveyed after 90 days of B-LPS use, and again after 180 days. A pencil and paper inventory addressing durability, compatibility, and acceptability was administered at both 90 and 180 days; in addition, a photographic analysis of fit was performed at the 90 day point. Results indicated good overall acceptability and excellent durability. Problem areas were identified as susceptibility to abrasion from dust, lack of protection against blowing dust, and incompatibility with the PASGT and CVC helmets. Recommendations for design changes are suggested. Keywords: Battlefield laser weapons; Questionnaires; Charts. (kr).

Book Bio Optical Evaluation of Specialized Eyewear Laser Safety and Dark Adaptation Devices

Download or read book Bio Optical Evaluation of Specialized Eyewear Laser Safety and Dark Adaptation Devices written by Wun C. Chiou and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report provides quantitative data and color vision evaluations for several types of goggles. The first two types are laser safety devices and the other three are for dark adaptation purposes. It is found that He-Ne laser safety eyewear conforms to the Army Regulation specification. It is recommended that one type of the safety device be used for only one specific purpose. Furthermore, the laser safety device cannot be used when a detection of a red display or a red light source is required. Results from the dark adaptation devices show that the spectral transmission characteristics possess virtually a common distribution. (Author).

Book Evaluation of Laser Protective Eyewear Dyes In UVEX Lenses

Download or read book Evaluation of Laser Protective Eyewear Dyes In UVEX Lenses written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twenty-seven lenses of various dye combinations were received for testing from Uvex Corp. A previous contract from Uvex for Natick had failed the 240-hour Weatherometer test and this study was to determine which dye or which combination of dyes was responsible for this degradation. Dyes from different suppliers were incorporated into Uvex polycarbonate lenses. These dyes were laser blocking dyes obtained from Gentex, Polaroid, Barnes, Steadfast and Epolin (a Uvex dye) and used in various combinations within the lenses. These lenses were evaluated for optical density, visual transmittance, laser saturation, and solarization. Some of the lenses were tested in the weatherometer only.

Download or read book Laser Safety written by Ken Barat and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New chapters and updates highlight the second edition of Laser Safety: Tools and Training. This text provides background information relating to lasers and laser safety, and examines the components of laser work and laser safety from a different perspective. Written by a working laser safety officer, the book considers ways to keep users, as well as those around them, safe. The author encourages readers to think beyond protective eyewear. As it relates to safety, he determines that if eyewear is required, then the laser system is not ideal. This book factors in optics, the vibration elements of the optical table, the power meter, and user training, elements that are not commonly considered in the context of laser safety. It presents ways for users to evaluate the hazards of any laser procedure and ensure that they are following documented laser safety standards. The material serves as a fundamental means or road map for laser users seeking to utilize the safest system possible. What’s New in the Second Edition: The second edition provides an inclusion of the Z136.8 Research Laser Standard, and offers updates and an explanation of eye exposure limits (MPE), presents new cases studies, and presents practical example images. It includes coverage of, laser lab design lessons, addresses user facility challenges and laser disposal. Presents case studies of real accidents, preventive measures, and templates for documenting potential laser risks and attendant safety measures Reviews factors often overlooked when one is setting up a laser lab Demonstrates how to investigate a laser incident This text which includes fundamental laser and laser safety information, as well as critical laser use information, is appropriate for both the novice and the seasoned professional.

Book Laser Protection Eyewear Preliminary Results from Colorfastness Testing

Download or read book Laser Protection Eyewear Preliminary Results from Colorfastness Testing written by William J. Fodor and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Samples of selected laser-protection eyewear were tested for a 3-month period in the colorfastness part of the USAFSAM Laser-Protection Eyewear Evaluation Program. Results included some moderate to severe changes in optical density (OD), measured by a laser OD system, as well as changes in haze and refraction. Some protection devices underwent severe structural changes as a result of testing. A follow-on study to determine an appropriate revised cutoff for colorfastness testing is briefly described.
