Book Evaluation of Heat Affected Zone and Weld Metal Toughness in Selected Steels Phase II

Download or read book Evaluation of Heat Affected Zone and Weld Metal Toughness in Selected Steels Phase II written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume I reports on an assessment of a series of submerged arc welds prepared using 2 different wire-flux combinations giving weld metals alloyed with Ti-B, and Mo respectively and using different procedural variables such as heat input, post weld heat treatment, interpass temperature and joint restraint. Volume 2 explains the CVN and CTOD toughness of 4 gas metal arc welds prepared using Argon-5% carbon dioxide shielding gas and 3 consumable wires giving weld deposits alloyed with Mn-Mo, Mn-Si, and Ti-B respectively. All welds were made at 3.0 kJ/mm heat input, and the one with Ti-B weld metal was examined in the stress relieved condition also. The welds were examined for composition, strength, microstructure and inclusion distributions. Volume 3 examines a series of 14 welded assemblies prepared using the gas shielded flux cored arc welding process to examine the effect of welding procedural variables on weld metal toughness. All the welds were made using one of 3 different commercially available consumables and the Ar-25% CO2 gas shielding. Procedural variables studied included heat input, post weld heat treatment, and welding position lateral joint restraint. Their influence was assessed by microstructure characterization, deposit composition, CVN and CTOD toughness.

Book Evaluation of Heat Affected Zone and Weld Metal Toughness in Selected Steels Phase 1

Download or read book Evaluation of Heat Affected Zone and Weld Metal Toughness in Selected Steels Phase 1 written by and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of heat input and postweld heat treatment on the toughness ofcoarse grain (CG) HAZ has been assessed in two steels (Algoma LT60 (Nb-V) andA710 Gr. A Cl. 3 (Cu-Ni-Nb) with the potential for use in Arctic and Offshoreapplications. The study employed full penetration welds in K-joints as wellas Gleeble simulated HAZ. The CG HAZ toughness of these steels has beencompared with that of the Ti-bearing Kawasaki MACS steel claimed to give goodtoughness at high heat imput levels. The 40 J and the 0.2mm CTOD valuetransition temperatures of less than -50C for MACS steel and less than -30Cfor both the LT60 and A710 steel have been observed.

Book Hybrid Laser Arc Welding

Download or read book Hybrid Laser Arc Welding written by F O Olsen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2009-06-26 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hybrid laser-arc welding (HLAW) is a combination of laser welding with arc welding that overcomes many of the shortfalls of both processes. This important book gives a comprehensive account of hybrid laser-arc welding technology and applications. The first part of the book reviews the characteristics of the process, including the properties of joints produced by hybrid laser-arc welding and ways of assessing weld quality. Part two discusses applications of the process to such metals as magnesium alloys, aluminium and steel as well as the use of hybrid laser-arc welding in such sectors as ship building and the automotive industry. With its distinguished editor and international team of contributors, Hybrid laser-arc welding is a valuable source of reference for all those using this important welding technology. Reviews arc and laser welding including both advantages and disadvantages of the hybrid laser-arc approach Explores the characteristics of the process including the properties of joints produced by hybrid laser-arc welding and ways of assessing weld quality Examines applications of the process including magnesium alloys, aluminium and steel with specific focus on applications in the shipbuilding and automotive industries

Book Interpretative Report on Weld metal Toughness

Download or read book Interpretative Report on Weld metal Toughness written by K. Masubuchi and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A literature survey was made to review presently available information on the notch toughness of weld metals and the heat-affected zone as they are affected by welding procedures. The base discussed in this report include mild steel and low-alloy, high-strength steels with up to 120,000-psi yield strength, such as may be used for merchant-ship construction. Welding processes considered include (1) shielded metal-arc welding, (2) submerged-arc welding, (3) gas metalarc welding, and (4) electrostag and electrogas welding. (Author).
