Book Evaluation of Auxiliary Agents and Systems for Aircraft Ground Fire Suppression Phase 1

Download or read book Evaluation of Auxiliary Agents and Systems for Aircraft Ground Fire Suppression Phase 1 written by and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The program was conducted with the ultimate objective of reducing the number and types of auxiliary extinguishing agents and systems used for aircraft ground fire suppression at military airports. This phase was devoted to the definition of auxiliary agent/system requirements and to the review of existing knowledge on the performance of various agents and systems under particular fire and environmental conditions likely to be encountered at military airports. Where knowledge was lacking, a series of environmental and small scale fire tests were conducted, the latter on three mockups simulating fires in an aircraft engine, fuel running along the incline of an aircraft wing and in a ruptured fuel tank containing reticulated foam.

Book Evaluation of Auxiliary Agents and Systems for Aircraft Ground Fire Suppression Phase II

Download or read book Evaluation of Auxiliary Agents and Systems for Aircraft Ground Fire Suppression Phase II written by Sami Atallah and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental program was conducted to assess the capabilities of three extinguishing agents under similar fire test conditions. The agents tested were a carbamic powder (CP), halon 1211, and an experimental modification of potassium bicarbonate (PKX). Tests were first conducted to select appropriate nozzles and operating pressures for PKX portable and wheeled extinguishers and halon 1211 portable units. The operating characteristics of portable and wheeled units for all three agents tested are provided. Fire extinguishing tests were next conducted on reproducible configurations simulating interior and exterior aircraft fire conditions. Interior fires included electrical fires, compartment fires involving various individual and mixed fuels and hidden oil fires. Exterior fires included those occurring in helicopter engine stacks, engine nacelles, the reticulated foam of some aircraft tanks, and those involving fuel burning on aircraft wings and cascading fuel fires. Book Equivalency Evaluation of Firefighting Agents and Minimum Requirements at U S Air Force Airfields

Download or read book Equivalency Evaluation of Firefighting Agents and Minimum Requirements at U S Air Force Airfields written by George B. Geyer and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An evaluation of selected aircraft firefighting agents was made both blanketing and auxiliary and of dispensing equipment. Laboratory studies and outdoor fire tests were conducted to ascertain the fire extinguishing equivalency of the auxiliary agents and to determine the most acceptable agents and equipment for use in performing large-scale firefighting tests. Experiments were performed principally upon those agents which were manufactures in conformance with a Federal or Military Specification (domestic or foreign) or were approved and listed by a recognized testing laboratory. Full advantage was taken to avoid duplication of effort by accepting all published data which was considered reliable by reason of its source. Large-scale fire tests were conducted only with those agents considered worthy of additional testing. Full-scale tactical firefighting experiments were performed on 20,555 and 10,028 square foot JP-4 fuel fires simulating the practical critical fire area surrounding large and medium size aircraft, to determine the effectiveness of each firefighting agent and the validity of the techniques and agent application rates employed. From this information sets of minimum requirements for the protection of small, medium and large aircraft were developed for the Aircraft Ground Fire Suppression and Rescue Services (AGFSRS). Book Evaluation of Aircraft Ground Firefighting Agents and Techniques

Download or read book Evaluation of Aircraft Ground Firefighting Agents and Techniques written by George B. Geyer and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis of aircraft crash firefighting systems was made through a survey of known and newly developed agents, both blanketing and auxiliary, and of dispensing equipment. Laboratory studies were conducted to ascertain the most acceptable agents and equipment for use in performing full-scale firefighting tests. Experiments were performed principally upon those agents which were manufactured in conformance with a Federal or Military specification or were listed and approved by a recognized testing laboratory. Full advantage was taken to avoid duplication of effort. Large-scale fire tests were conducted only with those agents considered worthy of additional testing. Full-scale tactical firefighting experiments were performed with medium size aircraft ( -47 Stratojet Bombers) to determine the effectiveness of each fire fighting agent and the validity of the techniques and agent application rates employed. Book Aircraft Ground Fire Suppression and Rescue Systems Basic Relationships in Military Fires Phase IV High Speed Dissemination of Dry Chemical Fire Suppression Agents

Download or read book Aircraft Ground Fire Suppression and Rescue Systems Basic Relationships in Military Fires Phase IV High Speed Dissemination of Dry Chemical Fire Suppression Agents written by R. S. Alger and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The feasibility and effects of applying dry chemical fire suppression agents at very high rates were explored with a series of cascade and pool type jet-fuel fires. Powders were dispensed at conventional rates with hand held extinguishers and at high rates with a rocket motor type disseminator. Typical discharge conditions with the high speed disseminator are described, along with fire sizes and effectiveness.
