Book Evaluation of Washington Aluminum Company Inc Production AM2 Landing Mat

Download or read book Evaluation of Washington Aluminum Company Inc Production AM2 Landing Mat written by Cecil D. Burns and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The investigation was conducted to evaluate the performance of AM2 landing mat from production-line fabrication. A test section, consisting of two clay subgrade items with different strengths and one sand item, was constructed and surfaced with the AM2 mat. The test section was subjected to traffic representing 1600 operational cycles of an aircraft having a 60,000-lb gross weight with a single-wheel main-gear assembly load of 27,000 lb and a 30-7.7 tire inflated to 400 psi. Based on the results obtained in this investigation, it is concluded that the AM2 mat will sustain 1600 cycles (188 coverages) of uniformly distributed aircraft operations with a 27,000-lb single-wheel load and 400-psi tire inflation pressure when placed on a clay subgrade having a CBR of 4.0 or greater, the AM2 mat will sustain 1600 passes of a 27,000-lb single-wheel load with 400-psi tire inflation pressure applied in a single path when placed on a clay subgrade having a CBR of 4.2 or greater, with slight core damage occurring in a small percentage of the planks, and the AM2 mat will sustain 1600 passes or 188 coverages of a 27,000-lb single-wheel load with 400-psi tire inflation pressure when placed on a loose sand subgrade. Book Evaluation of Harvey Electron Beam Welded AM2 Landing Mat AM2 M002

Download or read book Evaluation of Harvey Electron Beam Welded AM2 Landing Mat AM2 M002 written by Cecil D. Burns and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The investigation reported was conducted to evaluate the performance of the electron beam welded AM2 landing mat. A test section consisting of a heavy clay subgrade was constructed and surfaced with the electron beam welded AM2 mat, which will be known as AM2 mod 2. The test section was subjected to traffic representing 1600 operational cycles of an aircraft having a 60,000-lb gross weight with a single-wheel main-gear assembly load of 27,000 lb and a 30-7.7 tire inflated to 400 psi. Based on the results obtained in this investigation, it is concluded that the AM2 mod 2 mat will sustain 1600 cycles (188 coverages) of aircraft operations with a 27,000-lb single-wheel load and 400-psi tire inflation pressure when placed on a subgrade having a CBR of 3.6 or greater throughout the period of traffic, and electron beam welding of the end connectors resulted in considerable improvement in performance of the AM2 mod 2 mat over that of AM2 mat tested previously. Book Model Study of C 5A Landings on AM2 Landing Mat

Download or read book Model Study of C 5A Landings on AM2 Landing Mat written by Fred W. Kiefer and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a buckling failure in a section of AM2 landing mat runway during a test landing of a C-5A at Dyess AFB, Texas, in August 1970, a model testing program was initiated. This report presents the results of the development and testing of an analytical model and a 1/7-scale physical model AM2 mat runway subjected to C-5A loadings. The analytical model represents the landing mat as a series of discrete rigid elements interconnected and suspended by springs and dashpots subjected to external forces simulating Coulomb friction, shear, and the action of the aircraft. Results from the computer program developed included a simulation of the Dyess failure and an evaluation of various mat modifications. The 1/7-scale physical model of the C-5A landing gear produced buckling failures in the model AM2 mat runway similar to the failure that occurred at Dyess AFB. (Modified author abstract).

Book Introduction to Probability

Download or read book Introduction to Probability written by Joseph K. Blitzstein and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-07-24 with total page 599 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developed from celebrated Harvard statistics lectures, Introduction to Probability provides essential language and tools for understanding statistics, randomness, and uncertainty. The book explores a wide variety of applications and examples, ranging from coincidences and paradoxes to Google PageRank and Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). Additional application areas explored include genetics, medicine, computer science, and information theory. The print book version includes a code that provides free access to an eBook version. The authors present the material in an accessible style and motivate concepts using real-world examples. Throughout, they use stories to uncover connections between the fundamental distributions in statistics and conditioning to reduce complicated problems to manageable pieces. The book includes many intuitive explanations, diagrams, and practice problems. Each chapter ends with a section showing how to perform relevant simulations and calculations in R, a free statistical software environment.
