Book A HIGH VACUUM GAUGE CALIBRATION SYSTEM

Download or read book A HIGH VACUUM GAUGE CALIBRATION SYSTEM written by WALLACE S. KREISMAN and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ultra-high vacuum type metal and glass system was constructed for the purpose of calibrating vacuum gauges in the pressure region from 760 to 10 to the -7th power torr. The high vacuum portion of the system is bakeable at temperatures up to 450 C.A mercury manometer serves as a pressure standard in the region from 760 to 20 torr, and three specially designed, bakeable McLeod gauges with overlapping pressure ranges serve as pressure standards in the region from 20 torr to 1 x 1/10,000 torr. Theoretical accuracies of 1 percent or better are expected for the McLeod gauge readings in this pressure region. Pressures from 1 x 1/10,000 torr to 10 to the -7th power torr region can be measured, but the accuracy of the readings depends on adsorption and outgassing effects. Results pertaining to the reproducibility of measurements and comparisons of various gauge readings are presented. A pressure rise measurement technique is used to determine how the vacuum gauges and other system components are behaving. (Author).

Book Piston Manometer as an Absolute Standard for Vacuum gage Calibration in the Range 2 to 500 Millitorr

Download or read book Piston Manometer as an Absolute Standard for Vacuum gage Calibration in the Range 2 to 500 Millitorr written by Isidore Warshawsky and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A thin disk is suspended, with very small annular clearance, in a cylindrical opening in the base plate of a calibration chamber. A continuous flow of calibration gas passes through the chamber and annular opening to a downstream high vacuum pump. The ratio of pressures on the two faces of the disk is very large, so that the upstream pressure is substantially equal to net force on the disk divided by disk area. This force is measured with a dynamometer that is calibrated in place with dead weights. A probable error of + or - (0.2 millitorr plus 0.2 percent) is attainable when downstream pressure is known to 10 percent.

Book Pressure Measurement in the 0 0001 to 0 0000000001 Torr Range

Download or read book Pressure Measurement in the 0 0001 to 0 0000000001 Torr Range written by Vernon L. Mangold and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report documents the experimental results of pressure measurements made with a multiple orifice calibration system in the pressure range of 0.0004 to 0.0000000001 torr. The maximum reported error in the measurement of the pressure in the final chamber of the multiple orifice system is 11.2% when the pressure in the first chamber is referenced to a McLeod gauge which is used as a primary standard in the pressure range of 0.0004 to 0.00001 torr. The report includes discussions on calibration of vacuum gauges, measurement of small gas flows, error analysis in calculating pressures, vacuum gauge calibration report format, and procedures for calibrating a multiple orifice system. Book An Automated Vacuum Gauge Calibration System

Download or read book An Automated Vacuum Gauge Calibration System written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An automated system for calibrating vacuum gauges over the pressure range of 10−6 to 0.1 Pa was designed and constructed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for the Department of Energy (DOE) Primary Standards Laboratory at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL). Calculable pressures are generated by passing a known flow of gas through an orifice of known conductance. The orifice conductance is derived from dimensional measurements and accurate flows are generated using metal capillary leaks. The expanded uncertainty (k = 2) in the generated pressure is estimated to be between 1% and 4% over the calibration range. The design, calibration results. and component uncertainties will be discussed.

Book A Portable Calibrator for Intermediate Range Vacuum Gages

Download or read book A Portable Calibrator for Intermediate Range Vacuum Gages written by G. D Arney (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A portable calibrator to facilitate 'in-place' calibrations of intermediate range pressure transducers has been developed. The operating principle of the calibrator is to transfer gas, in controllable mass increments, into an initially evacuated vessel of known volume by use of a transfer volume. By adjusting the mass increments to specific predetermined levels, the pressure in the initially evacuated vessel can be increased in steps of 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, or 1 torr. The pressure ranges covered are from 0.001 to 1 torr and from 1 to 30 torr. The indicated corresponding limits of error applicable to each range are plus or minus 1.3 and plus or minus 0.76 percent of desired pressure level, respectively. (Author).
