Book excerpt: Les indications de la tomographie volumique à faisceau conique (ou CBCT cone beam computed tomography) sont de plus en plus nombreuses en endodontie. Elle a été introduite dans les années 90 dans la planification de la chirurgie apicale. Ses avantages ont été démontrés à travers de nombreuses études. L'objet de cette thèse est d'évaluer l'impact de la tomographie volumique à faisceau conique dans le suivi de la chirurgie endodontique. Après un rappel des fondamentaux sur la cicatrisation et sur la procédure de la chirurgie endodontique, une analyse de la littérature a été réalisée afin de recenser les études ayant pour objectif de discuter de la nécessité de réaliser le suivi de la chirurgie apicale à l'aide du cone beam. Enfin, une étude rétrospective portant sur 11 patients (soit 15 dents) ayant subi une chirurgie apicale entre septembre 2010 et janvier 2015 dans un cabinet privé a été réalisée. Cette étude a été effectuée afin de comparer les résultats de la chirurgie apicale en utilisant deux méthodes radiographiques (la radiographie péri-apicale et le CBCT) à 11-18 mois post-opératoire.

L'objectif de cette revue est de comparer le processus de cicatrisation après apexification et traitement endodontique régénératif sur dents permanentes immatures nécrosées, et de déterminer laquelle de ces deux thérapeutiques garantit au mieux la pérennité des dents sur l'arcade dentaire. Pour cela, nous avons identifié et inclus des articles traitant d'apexification, et de traitement endodontique régénératif, sur dents permanentes immatures. Les résultats n'ont pas permis de mettre en évidence de différences significatives entre les deux traitements, notamment en raison de la faible proportion d'études comparatives dans la littérature existante. Tous deux assurent une résolution des signes et des symptômes, ainsi qu'une cicatrisation de la lésion péri-apicale. Le traitement endodontique régénératif a toutefois permis d'observer un épaississement ainsi qu'une croissance radiculairea.
