Sont ainsi abordées, dans un premier temps, des questions générales concernant l’épistémologie des études touristiques. Puis, constituant le cœur du livre, différentes contributions présentent l’objet touristique à partir d’un champ disciplinaire distinct, que ce soit la géographie, la science politique, l’ethnologie, la sociologie, l’économie ou le droit. Il s’agit non plus d’étudier le développement du tourisme, mais de penser ce dernier comme l’un des facteurs de nos futurs.
