Le verbe sinere pose en outre des problemes delicats d'interpretation etymologique, pour lesquels une solution nouvelle est avancee. Il s'agit de luere, nuere, ruere, dont le caractere set demeure incertain, ainsi que de spuere et suere, qui, eux, revelent d'anciennes racines en laryngale.
