Lorsque celui-ci brûle, les particules d'aluminium restent à l'état de phase condensée et sont dispersées dans la chambre. Une partie d'entre elles s'accumule dans la cavité du fond arrière laissée par la tuyère intégrée. L'objectif de cette thèse est d'aider à une meilleure compréhension des mécanismes qui régissent la formation de ce dépôt en étudiant l'écoulement diphasique qui en est à l'origine. cet écoulement est simulé numériquement en prenant en compte plusieurs phénomènes liés aux particules. La modélisation de l'écoulement gazeux et de la dispersion turbulente des particules est réalisée par une méthode Euler-Lagrange. La modélisation de la combustion de l'aluminium est étudiée et appliquée aux propulseurs à poudre. Une simulation de l'écoulement en prenant en compte la distribution de la combustion dans la chambre avec rétroaction sur l'écoulement gazeux ainsi qu'une répartition bimodale de la taille des particules est réalisée sur une configuration de petit moteur expérimental. Les résultats confirment bien que l'influence de la combustion de l'aluminium est pour ce type de configuration, répartie dans toute la chambre. Enfin, la formation du dépôt est abordée avec dans un premier temps une étude du comportement de la goutte lors de l'impact avec la paroi puis une modélisation de la formation et de la dynamique du film liquide qu'elles créent sur la paroi de la tuyère. Le modèle ainsi construit est appliqué au cas du moteur d'Ariane 5 à échelle réelle afin d'étudier l'emplacement du point d'arrêt du film, ce qui permettra de définir des critères de capture des particules.

Leur utilisation permet de remonter De manière satisfaisante aux effets des oscillations de vitesse sur l'érosion moyenne pression mesurée et sur la réponse linéaire du propergol déduite du champ de pression acoustique. Indépendamment, une étude de l'influence d'une phase condensée présente dans les produits de combustion est entreprise pour être appliquée au cas d'un propergol aluminisé.

Book excerpt: Cette étude s'inscrit dans le cadre de recherches, menées dans différents laboratoires, sur l'optimisation des moteurs à propergol solide d'Ariane 5 (MPS P230). Dans une certaine plage de fonctionnement du moteur, l'écoulement diphasique généré par la combustion du propergol enrichi en aluminium se couple à l'acoustique de la veine et crée ainsi des instabilités pouvant être dramatiques. D'autre part, certaines gouttelettes forment, dans le fond arrière du propulseur, une flaque dont le ballottement induit des déséquilibres et des oscillations de poussée. L'objectif de la these est de comprendre l'influence de la phase dispersée sur le couplage aéroacoustique au sein du P230 grâce à une étude numérique approfondie. La géométrie support est une maquette du moteur, VIOLETTE, fonctionnant en gaz froid. Le manuscrit comprend trois parties : les phénomènes physiques mis en jeu et les méthodes numériques utilisées, la modélisation de l'écoulement diphasique en gaz froid, l'influence de l'évaporation des gouttes d'aluminium. L'écoulement gazeux instationnaire est calculé en résolvant les équations laminaires de Navier-Stokes grâce au code MSD, couplé au module LSD pour la simulation déterministe lagrangienne de la phase liquide, en two-way coupling. En gaz froid, la présence de gouttelettes cause une diminution des fréquences et amplitudes d'oscillation, et de la pression moyenne. Ces phénomènes sont fortement dépendants des conditions d'injection des gouttes. En gaz chaud, l'évaporation des gouttes accroît les échanges entre phases. La pression moyenne et l'amplitude des fluctuations augmentent considérablement par rapport au cas monophasique. Enfin, l'excitation de modes acoustiques transverses a été mise en évidence par la prise en compte de l'évaporation des gouttelettes.
