Book tica en los medios de comunicaci n

Download or read book tica en los medios de comunicaci n written by López Talavera, María del Mar and published by Editorial UOC. This book was released on 2016-11-08 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Environment Social Justice and the Media in the Age of the Anthropocene

Download or read book Environment Social Justice and the Media in the Age of the Anthropocene written by Elizabeth G. Dobbins and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-02-17 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Environment, Social Justice, and the Media in the Age of Anthropocene addresses three imminent challenges to human society in the age of the Anthropocene. The first challenge involves the survival of the species; the second the breakdown of social justice; and the third the inability of the media to provide global audiences with an adequate orientation about these issues. The notion of the Anthropocene as a geological age shaped by human intervention implies a new understanding of the human context that influences the physical and biological sciences. Human existence continues to be affected by the physical and biological reality from which it evolved but, in turn, it affects that reality as well. This work addresses this paradox by bringing together the contributions of researchers from very different disciplines in conversation about the complex relationships between the physical/biological world and the human world to offer different perspectives and solutions in establishing social and environmental justice in the age of the Anthropocene.

Book Activism through Poetry

Download or read book Activism through Poetry written by Marina Llorente and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2017-05-22 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Activism through Poetry: Critical Spanish Poems in Translation is a compiled anthology of translated poems, which explore cultural, political, social, and ecological issues in the context of contemporary Spain. The work highlights the active role that poetry plays in the debate of these issues. The anthology begins with an introduction, which provides a theoretical framework and a critical analysis of each poem. It is an important contribution in the academic context and also in the more general context of international social and political action. It constitutes the first bilingual translation of selected poems written by well-known and emergent contemporary critical poets from Spain. The five sections (Historical Memory, Ecology, Political and Social Issues, Patriarchy, and Capitalism) feature four poems with a total of twenty poems (ten written by women and ten written by men). These poets are activists whose poetry comments on society and, more importantly, wants to have an impact on it. The poetic art that is born from ethical commitment has the potential to call attention not only to the realities of the world we live in but also to the possibilities for transformation. Poetry, therefore, is ultimately a political act.

This book was released on 2012-01-16 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For public and school libraries, this resource reflects recent changes in Library of Congress subject headings and authority files, and provides bilingual information essential to reference librarians and catalogers serving Spanish speakers. Libraries must provide better access to their collections for all users, including Spanish-language materials. The American Library Association has recognized this increasing need. Subject Headings for School and Public Libraries: Bilingual Fourth Edition is the only resource available that provides both authorized and reference entries in English and Spanish. A first-check source for the most frequently used headings needed in school and public libraries, this book incorporates thousands of new and revised entries to assist in applying LCSH and CSH headings. Of the approximately 30,000 headings listed, most include cross-references, and all of the cross-reference terms are translated. MARC21 tags are included for all authorized entries to simplify entering them into computerized catalogs, while indexes to all headings and free-floating subdivisions are provided in translation from Spanish to English. This book gives librarians access to accurate translations of the subject terms printed in books published and cataloged in English-speaking countries—invaluable information in settings with Spanish-speaking patrons.

Book Hacer teologia y etica teologica frente a la crisis de los abusos

Download or read book Hacer teologia y etica teologica frente a la crisis de los abusos written by Daniel J. Fleming and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2024-06-13 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Psychosocial Implications of Poverty

Download or read book Psychosocial Implications of Poverty written by Verônica Morais Ximenes and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-08-21 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a multidimensional, psychosocial and critical understanding of poverty by bringing together studies carried out with groups in different contexts and situations of deprivation in Brazil, Mexico, Paraguay, Nicaragua and Spain. The book is divided in two parts. The first part presents studies that unveil the psychosocial implications of poverty by revealing the processes of domination based on the stigmatization and criminalization of poor people, which contribute to maintain realities of social inequality. The second part presents studies focused on strategies to fight poverty and forms of resistance developed by individuals who are in situations of marginalization. The studies presented in this contributed volume depart from the theoretical framework developed by Critical Social Psychology, Community Psychology and Liberation Psychology, in an effort to understand poverty beyond its monetary dimension, bringing social, cultural, structural and subjective factors into the analysis. Psychological science in general has not produced specific knowledge about poverty as a result of the relations of domination produced by social inequalities fostered by the capitalist system. This book seeks to fill this gap by presenting a psychosocial perspective with psychological and sociological bases aligned in a dialectical way in order to understand and confront poverty. Psychosocial Implications of Poverty – Diversities and Resistances will be of interest to social psychologists, sociologists and economists interested in multidimensional studies of poverty, as well as to policy makers and activists directly working with the development of policies and strategies to fight poverty.

Download or read book Diabetes and Couples written by Rozzana Sánchez-Aragón and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-27 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shows how psychological aspects of individuals and of couple relationships can work as both protective or risk factors to the health of diabetes patients and their partners. Departing from a social psychologic perspective, it analyzes how individual attributes and personal relationships influence health, focusing on the impacts that diabetes as a chronic-degenerative disease has on the psychological state of the patient and on their most immediate social context. The volume is divided in three parts: the first focuses on the patient, the second on the partner and the third on the couple relationship. The first part examines how attachment styles, optimism, resilience, self-efficacy in emotional regulation, loneliness and rumination impact the stress experienced by the diabetic patient. The second part analyzes how the partner’s altruism, affectivity, jealousy, criticism or indifference affects the physical health of the diabetic patient. Finally, the third part explores the relationship between negative emotions and the couple’s motives of conflict, as well as the effects of the communication styles used, emotional warmth and empathy in the satisfaction with the relationship in couples where one of the members is a diabetes patient. Diabetes and Couple Relationship: Protective and Risk Factors will be a valuable resource for researchers, students and professionals in the fields of health and clinical psychology, social psychology and public health interested in better understanding how personal characteristics and relationships can affect the physical and psychological health of chronic disease patients, as well as their well-being and quality of life.
