Book Christian Counseling Ethics

Download or read book Christian Counseling Ethics written by Randolph K. Sanders and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 1997-06-09 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A client raises spiritual questions. Can a Christian therapist working in a government agency talk with a client about faith? A young couple with two children asks a Christian counselor to help them negotiate an end to their marriage. What responsibility does the counselor have to try to repair the relationship? A youth group member confidentially reveals to the pastor that he is taking drugs. Should the pastor tell the boy's parents? A counselor who teaches a college course has a client show up for class. What should she do? These are just a few of the complex dilemmas that therapists, counselors and pastors face nearly every day. Handling these situations appropriately is critical for both the client's progress and the professional's personal credibility and protection from liability. State and federal codes, professional association statements and denominational guidelines have been drawn up to address ethical issues like competence, confidentiality, multiple relationships, public statements, third parties and documentation. In this book you'll find them all compiled and interpreted in light of Christian faith and practice. Written by qualified professional counselors and respected academic instructors, this book is an indispensable resource for understanding and applying ethics in Christian counseling today.

Book Serving Jesus with Integrity

Download or read book Serving Jesus with Integrity written by Dwight P. Baker and published by William Carey Publishing. This book was released on 2010-06-28 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The word “ethics” carries an aura of countervailing views, overlapping claims, uncertain footing, and seductive attractions. Some issues are as clear as the horizontal versus vertical axes in Sawai Chinnawong’s striking painting, Joseph and Potiphar’s Wife, that graces the cover of this book. At the same time—because we are involved, because our interests, our inclinations, our plans and relationships are at stake—the issues that engage missionary practitioners can be frustratingly labyrinthine, curling endlessly back on themselves. Evangelical missionaries and mission agencies are concerned about personal morality—and rightly so. But as the chapters in this volume attest, evangelical mission’s ethical engagement extends far beyond simply avoiding compromising sexual situations and not absconding with the finances. How should we talk about others’ beliefs and practices to ourselves? To them? How should we represent ourselves to others? What role does tolerance for ambiguity play in missionaries’ mental preparation? How should accountability be structured in intercultural partnerships? Are there ways to enable organizational justice to flourish in mission institutions? What might integrity in short-term mission outreach look like? How does care for creation relate to mission? What role can a code of ethics for missionary practice play? Limited and fallible and marred by the fall, we need both guidance and admonition—and deep reflection on the conduct of evangelical mission such as is provided in this volume—so that we may serve Jesus with true integrity.

Download or read book Code Of Honor written by Ashish Raichur and published by All Peoples Church & World Outreach, Bangalore, India. This book was released on 2014-03-02 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ethics has to do with moral code, values and principles. While a code of conduct can be discussed and documented, the standards of ethics itself does not provide the power to keep them. The power to adhere to moral values and principles comes from within each individual. As Christian ministers, our power to walk morally upright comes from our dependence on the Lord Himself and through the grace He provides. No code of conduct, no teaching on ethics, no wise counsel or set of guidelines can help a Christian minister who does not take his/her personal walk with God seriously. In the Church today, where many of us are pressing in to more of the manifestation of God's power, anointing, signs and wonders, miracles and healings, prophetic and the supernatural - a call to godly standards of life and conduct may not be very popular. Preachers and ministers are sought after, mom for what they can manifest in one hour behind the pulpit, than for the life they live off it. It is time for us as ministers of Christ to re-establish standards of serving "God acceptably with reverence and godly fear." (Hebrews 12:28). That is what this book is about - an easy-to-read collection of ethical values, godly standards and practical wisdom for men and women in Christian ministry. Your life and ministry is sure to be enriched, if you will read this book. This book will be a useful resource for Bible Colleges, Seminaries, Bible Training Centers and wherever men and women are being trained for Christian ministry. This will also be a good handbook to teach at Pastors' Conferences and Seminars. Pastors and other ministry leaders will find it useful to use this resource as they train and prepare their ministry teams.
