Book excerpt: How can we make our love lives deeper and more enriching? What allows us to tap into our relationships’ soul-transforming power? How can we be sure our relationship choices are Spirit-guided rather than ego-driven? Oh My Beloved! takes as its essential theme that the soul-level love each of us longs for is first discovered within before it is enacted without. Seven sacred qualities of the divinely guided relationship are identified—preparedness, awareness, inner-directedness, emptiness, celebration, service, and spiritual midwifery—which can be used to deepen our experience of love, either with the loved ones now in our lives, or in new relationships to come. True, fulfilling, and enduring love is possible for us all.

Magnolia, South Carolina, 1980 Austin Foster is barely a teenager when her mama dies giving birth to twins, leaving her to pick up the pieces while holding her six siblings together and doing her best to stop her daddy from retreating into his personal darkness. Scratching out a living on the family's tobacco farm is as tough as it gets. When a few random acts of kindness help to ease the Fosters' hardships, Austin finds herself relying upon some of Magnolia's most colorful citizens for friendship and more. But it's next to impossible to hide the truth about the goings-on at Nolia Farms, and Austin's desperate attempts to save face all but break her. Just when it seems she might have something more waiting for her--with the son of a wealthy local family who she's crushed on for years--her father makes a choice that will crack wide-open the family's secrets and lead to a public reckoning. There are consequences for loving a boy like Vance Cumberland, but there is also freedom in the truth. T. I. Book excerpt: AEROBIC RAZZMATAZZ 12 WORKOUTS BY 12 MINUTES is suitable for everyone young or old, men, women, or children anyone interested in staying fit while having fun. It was chosen by "Dance Spirit Magazine" (April 2002) as one of 20 picks of "exciting and illuminating dance finds". "Foreword's" review (3/03) said the book "presents both a refreshing as well as a novel approach to aerobic exercises"...and is also "meant to revitalize the whole person, both mentally and physically". The book consists of 12 chapters; each chapter is to be done in 12 minutes of practice time once you are familiar with the contents: warmups, aerobic razzmatazz routine and cooldowns. This is a workout that can fit into anyone's schedule quite easily. Shorter sessions can be had by splitting the workout into 3 five-minute sessions to be done at various times in the day. For longer workouts, simply do the warmups, the razzmatazz routine, 15 minutes of running or quick walking followed by cooldown, or do 2 or 3 of the chapters consecutively: all their warmups, the razzmatazz routines, then all the cooldowns. All areas of the body are involved in the warmups and cooldowns: abdomen, quadriceps, hamstrings, arms, feet, head, and even the eyes. There are movements for stretching, strengthening, and cardiovascular fitness. They are clearly explained. Hints on fitness, numerous photographs and a glossary enhance the book. The aerobic razzmatazz routines are varied and fun and are based on folk dance, jazz, improvisational movement, jogging, etc. and may be both walked through at first and then vigorously executed with jumps and larger movements. You'll have a great time doing them alone or with friends or family.

Download or read book Sticks and Stones written by Michael Hiebert and published by Pinnacle Books. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 531 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "There's something mesmerizing about Hiebert's storytelling voice." --The New York Times Book Review A case from the past sparks a nightmare for Detective Leah Teal in Michael Hiebert’s masterful new novel of suspense. Fifteen years ago, a serial killer tagged by the media as the Stickman spread terror throughout Alabama and became Alvin detective Joe Fowler’s obsession. After fifteen months and nine victims, Harry Stork was identified as the Stickman and Fowler shot him dead. The killings stopped. For a while. Now, more bodies are turning up, each staked through the chest with a stick-figure drawing in the killer’s signature style. Detective Leah Teal—Joe Fowler’s daughter and Alvin’s sole detective—receives a letter before each victim is found, just like her late father did. The only people who knew about the letters were the cops on the taskforce back then—and the killer himself. Did Joe shoot the wrong man, or was one of the detectives he handpicked involved all along? As a single mother, Leah tries to balance an increasingly disturbing case and a new relationship with caring for her children—bright, perceptive Abe, and teenaged Caroline, who’s in the first flush of young love. But with each menacing communication, each gruesome discovery, Leah realizes just how personal, and how devastating, the truth may be. Weaving lyrical prose and emotional richness into a taut, gripping mystery, Michael Hiebert creates a fascinating novel of life, love, and death in a small Southern town. Praise for the novels of Michael Hiebert Dream with Little Angels "Hiebert's first novel courts comparison to the classic To Kill a Mockingbird, but the book manages to soar as a moving achievement in its own right. In Hiebert's hands, psychological insight and restrained lyricism combine to create a coming-of-age tale as devastating as it is indelible. --Publishers Weekly (Starred Review) "Readers who enjoy literary fiction depicting small-town life in the tradition of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird may want to try Hiebert's debut." --Library Journal "Michael Hiebert's debut delivers . . . a breathless, will-they-get-there-in-time affair, with a heartbreaking resolution." --Mystery Scene Close to the Broken Hearted "Hiebert does a masterful job of building suspense." --Publishers Weekly "A very good, sometimes emotional, mystery that will stay with you long after it's over." --Suspense Magazine A Thorn Among the Lilies "Engaging. . .Readers will keep guessing whodunit to the end." --Publishers Weekly

Download or read book Eternal Glimpses A Poet s Legacy written by Richard Davi and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-06-22 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An autobiographical collaboration of subsequent journal entries of a poet delves behind the scenes of solitary tedium and introspection when a spark catches between the heart and brain and transforms into a pulsing literary song on the printed page. Based in Brooklyn, New York in the twentieth century, the written word comes alive through a city dweller that gives his life for his art in the all-too-often darkness of poverty and the clash with social expectations. While a friendly narrative of a life story threads into a likeable character, the poetic expressions, observations, and essays surpass politics, social issues of the day, and religion and exposes the richness of beauty and the limitations of being human. Melancholic in tone, the writing dares to challenge the astute reader to explore the deeper and unspoken aspects of the human condition.

Download or read book Magnolia Square written by Pamela J. Lantz and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2022-09-08 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After accepting an invitation to rescue children in Brazil, Lila, and her Israeli friends set out on an adventure of a lifetime. A mission compound far from the wealthy tourist district had been established by the Crow family. This would be Team Operation Set Captives Free headquarters for the duration of their stay. Aptly named Magnolia Square for the abundance of Magnolia trees that lined the property, where impoverished children are loved, taught, and fed during the school week. On Sunday the church’s mission bell rings, calling everyone to gather for worship. It’s a humble work, important and lifesaving. The Crow family had been given permission to repurpose several city lots in the Warehouse district that neighbored the city dump. Homeless children, many with disabilities, were in want of medical attention, clean water, proper nutrition, and an education. Overwhelming needs for sure, but as of late, change seemed to be in the air. The Holy Spirit was on the move, He had called and they had answered. In short order, Team OSCF and the Crow family realized they were not the only ones that had been requested to attend His party. An afternoon visiting the inhabitants of the city dump brings the team in contact with a peculiar young man. Father Jude, a thirty-something Anglican Priest from England who had made Brazil his home and the residents of the landfill his people. Jude’s Council members had told him to expect help to come from the Holy City and that when it arrived, Dunamis Belem would ignite. It was time. The Holy Spirit was wooing and brooding, breathing fresh wind into souls and spirits and explosively empowering His church.
