El estado de inversión estudia el diseño y la ejecución y además el estado de operación. Para poder realizar los estudios de lo señalado anteriormente, se optó por dividir la investigación en una parte teórica, llamada formulación de proyectos, en que se explica y analiza el ciclo de vida del proyecto poniendo especial énfasis en la etapa a nivel de perfil que cuenta con los siguientes módulos: Definición del proyecto, estudio de mercado, estudio técnico y evaluación de proyectos. La segunda parte de la investigación corresponde a la parte práctica, que cuenta con el desarrollo de un proyecto de infraestructura vial emplazado en la ciudad de Los Angeles, abordado solo a nivel de perfil, por tratarse de un proyecto social de pequeña envergadura.
