Book Exponential Distribution

Download or read book Exponential Distribution written by K. Balakrishnan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-01-22 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The exponential distribution is one of the most significant and widely used distribution in statistical practice. It possesses several important statistical properties, and yet exhibits great mathematical tractability. This volume provides a systematic and comprehensive synthesis of the diverse literature on the theory and applications of the expon

Book Restricted Parameter Space Estimation Problems

Download or read book Restricted Parameter Space Estimation Problems written by Constance van Eeden and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-12-15 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is addressed to anyone interested in the subject of restrict- parameter-space estimation, and in particular to those who want to learn, or bring their knowledge up to date, about (in)admissibility and minimaxity problems for such parameter spaces. The coverage starts in the early 1950s when the subject of inference for - stricted parameter spaces began to be studied and ends around the middle of 2004. It presents known, and also some new, results on (in)admissibility and minimaxity for nonsequential point estimation problems in restricted ?ni- dimensional parameter spaces. Relationships between various results are d- cussed and open problems are pointed out. Few complete proofs are given, but outlines of proofs are often supplied. The reader is always referred to the published papers and often results are clari?ed by presenting examples of the kind of problems an author solves, or of problems that cannot be solved by a particular result. The monograph does not touch on the subject of testing hypotheses in - stricted parameter spaces. The latest books on that subject are by Robertson, Wright and Dykstra (1988) and Akkerboom (1990), but many new results in that area have been obtained since. The monograph does have a chapter in which questions about the existence of maximum likelihood estimators are discussed. Some of their properties are also given there as well as some algorithms for computing them. Most of these results cannot be found in the Robertson, Wright, Dykstra book.

Download or read book Handbook of Exponential and Related Distributions for Engineers and Scientists written by Nabendu Pal and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2005-11-21 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The normal distribution is widely known and used by scientists and engineers. However, there are many cases when the normal distribution is not appropriate, due to the data being skewed. Rather than leaving you to search through journal articles, advanced theoretical monographs, or introductory texts for alternative distributions, the Handbook of E

Book Exponentiated Distributions

Download or read book Exponentiated Distributions written by Essam K. AL-Hussaini and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-01-06 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains entirely new results, not to be found elsewhere. Furthermore, additional results scattered elsewhere in the literature are clearly presented. Several well-known distributions such as Weibull distributions, exponentiated Burr type XII distributions and exponentiated exponential distributions and their properties are demonstrated. Analysis of real as well as well-simulated data are analyzed. A number of inferences based on a finite mixture of distributions are also presented.

Book Characterization Problems Associated with the Exponential Distribution

Download or read book Characterization Problems Associated with the Exponential Distribution written by T. A. Azlarov and published by Springer. This book was released on 1986-05-09 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Problems of calculating the reliability of instruments and systems and the development of measures to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs confronted physicists and mathe maticians at the end of the '40's and the beginning of the '50's in connection with the unrelia bility of electro-vacuum instruments used in aviation. Since then steadily increasing demands for the accuracy, reliability and complexity required in electronic equipment have served as a stimulus in the development of the theory of reliability. From 1950 to 1955 Epstein and Sobel [67,68] and Davis [62], in an analysis of statistical data of the operating time of an instrument up to failure, showed that the distribution is exponential in many cases. Consequently, the ex ponential distribution became basic to research associated with experiments on life expectancy. Further research has shown that there are a whole series of problems in reliability theory for which the exponential distribution is inapplicable. However, it can practically always be used as a first approximation. The ease of computational work due to the nice properties of the exponential distribution (for example, the lack of memory property, see Section 1) is also a reason for its frequent use. AB a rule, data on the behavior of the failure rate function are used to test the hypothesis that a given distribution belongs to the class of exponential distributions, and order statistics are used to estimate the parameter of the exponential distribution.

Book Robust Estimation and Testing

Download or read book Robust Estimation and Testing written by Robert G. Staudte and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-09-15 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An introduction to the theory and methods of robust statistics, providing students with practical methods for carrying out robust procedures in a variety of statistical contexts and explaining the advantages of these procedures. In addition, the text develops techniques and concepts likely to be useful in the future analysis of new statistical models and procedures. Emphasizing the concepts of breakdown point and influence functon of an estimator, it demonstrates the technique of expressing an estimator as a descriptive measure from which its influence function can be derived and then used to explore the efficiency and robustness properties of the estimator. Mathematical techniques are complemented by computational algorithms and Minitab macros for finding bootstrap and influence function estimates of standard errors of the estimators, robust confidence intervals, robust regression estimates and their standard errors. Includes examples and problems.
