Book Evaporation and Evapotranspiration

Download or read book Evaporation and Evapotranspiration written by Wossenu Abtew and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-28 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a thorough presentation of theoretical and applied aspects of the evaporation and evapotranspiration process supported by data from experimental studies. It is written in a way that the theoretical background of evaporation and evapotranspiration estimation is presented in a simplified manner, comprehensive to most technical readers. The book deals with details of meteorological parameters and monitoring sensors which are needed for estimating evaporation and evapotranspiration. Errors in meteorological parameter measurements are also presented. Estimation errors, strengths, weaknesses and applicability of a wide range of evaporation and evapotranspiration estimation methods are presented along with samples of application to a certain region. Application of newer simpler methods is presented. A new technology, remote sensing application to evaporation and evapotranspiration estimation, is presented. The latest interest in the subject, climate change and evapotranspiration is presented in the last chapter. This book will be beneficial to students, hydrologists, engineers, meteorologists, water managers and others.

Book The ASCE Standardized Reference Evapotranspiration Equation

Download or read book The ASCE Standardized Reference Evapotranspiration Equation written by Rick G. Allen and published by Amer Society of Civil Engineers. This book was released on 2005 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Task Committee report provides standardized equations for calculating reference evapotranspiration (ET) from weather data and procedures for quality assessment and control of weather data. The purpose of the standardized reference ET equation and calculation procedures is to bring commonality to the calculation of reference ET and to provide a standardized basis for determining or transferring crop coefficients for agriculture and landscape use. The basis of the standardized reference ET equation is the ASCE Penman-Monteith (ASCE-PM) method Manual 70. Along with applications for the ASCE-PM method, this report includes recommended calculations for vapor pressure, net radiation and wind speed adjustment, and guidelines on assessing weather data integrity and estimating values for missing data. The development of this standardized report by the Environmental and Water Resources Committee (EWRI) of ASCE, was made at the request of, and has been endorsed by, the Irrigation Association.

Book Current Perspective to Predict Actual Evapotranspiration

Download or read book Current Perspective to Predict Actual Evapotranspiration written by Daniel Bucur and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2017-05-24 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evapotranspiration is the largest outgoing water flux from the Earth's surface; its accurate quantification is critical for the crop development in conditions of the climate changes from recent decades, and it can contribute to a greater understanding of a range of agricultural ecosystem processes. To evaluate the hydric requirements of the crops, it was agreed that they should be reported to a maximum global evapotranspiration called potential evapotranspiration. To estimate this variable, a variety of methods were developed, each with its benefits as well as trade-offs. Their use, however, is laborious due to their complexity and of the large number of parameters required. In this book, specialists' concerns worldwide to develop simple but reliable methodologies - with less data requirement - which will give accurate and appropriate results - are presented. In addition, a study of the physics of the moisture evaporation process from porous media to elucidate what are the mechanisms of moisture migration from granular biopesticides is presented in the last chapter.

Download or read book Atmospheric Boundary Layer written by Jordi Vil...-Guerau de Arellano and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-06-04 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on more than 20 years of research and lecturing, Jordi Vil...-Guerau de Arellano and his team's textbook provides an excellent introduction to the interactions between the atmosphere and the land for advanced undergraduate and graduate students and a reference text for researchers in atmospheric physics and chemistry, hydrology, and plant physiology. The combination of the book, which provides the essential theoretical concepts, and the associated interactive Chemistry Land-surface Atmosphere Soil Slab (CLASS) software, which provides hands-on practical exercises and allows students to design their own numerical experiments, will prove invaluable for learning about many aspects of the soil-vegetation-atmosphere system. This book has a modular and flexible structure, allowing instructors to accommodate it to their own learning-outcome needs.

Book Variations in Climatic Characteristics as Related to Evapotranspiration in South Park Central Park County Colorado

Download or read book Variations in Climatic Characteristics as Related to Evapotranspiration in South Park Central Park County Colorado written by Norman E. Spahr and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data collected from May through September in 1977, 1978, and 1979 at three stations were analyzed using an analysis of variance technique to determine variations in climatic characteristics in South Park, Colo. Knowledge of these climatic characteristics will aid in determining the amount of water that may be transferred from agricultural use in South Park to municipal use in the Denver metropolitan area. Daily minimum air temperature, daily average air temperature, cumulative wind, daily relative humidity, and daily solar radiation were statistically different between the three stations at the 1-percent level of significance. Daily maximum air temperature and daily pan evaporation were not significantly different between some stations. Daily precipitation was not significantly different between the three stations. Estimates of potential evapotranspiration made using the Penman equation were not significantly different between the three stations. The lack of spatial variations in the estimated potential evapotranspiration shows that no one climatic characteristic can be used as an indicator of spatial variation of potential evapotranspiration. Large variations in solar radiation between the three stations indicate that solar radiation needs to be measured at sites where evapotranspiration is being determined.
