Download or read book Esther and the Bloodwood Flute written by Lurlynn L. Potter and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2021-05-16 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Esther is a half-blood Cherokee Native American who has special gifts that she uses to fight corruption and violence. Like Esther of old, she is also meant to save her people from a modern-day Trail of Tears and extinction by those who make a fortune off of cancer treatments and don’t want the discovered cure—that is in her DNA—to be made available to the world. The corrupt SolMaize group has infiltrated world organizations at the highest levels and The Resistance has recruited Esther because of her special gifts. Robert and John are assigned to protect Esther from terrorist attacks, assassination attempts, explosions, and espionage; but they’ve already lost their hearts to her charm. Which one will she choose? Here’s what readers are saying: “I loved it! While both books stand alone, you’ll also want to read the first book: ‘The Cherokee Princess and the Bloodwood Flute’. Both great books!” – L. Warren “I loved this story! It was great! When is the next book coming out?” – M. Rake

Book The Queer and Transgender Resilience Workbook

Download or read book The Queer and Transgender Resilience Workbook written by Anneliese A. Singh and published by New Harbinger Publications. This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can you build unshakable confidence and resilience in a world still filled with ignorance, inequality, and discrimination? The Queer and Transgender Resilience Workbook will teach you how to challenge internalized negative messages, handle stress, build a community of support, and embrace your true self. Resilience is a key ingredient for psychological health and wellness. It’s what gives people the psychological strength to cope with everyday stress, as well as major setbacks. For many people, stressful events may include job loss, financial problems, illness, natural disasters, medical emergencies, divorce, or the death of a loved one. But if you are queer or gender non-conforming, life stresses may also include discrimination in housing and health care, employment barriers, homelessness, family rejection, physical attacks or threats, and general unfair treatment and oppression—all of which lead to overwhelming feelings of hopelessness and powerlessness. So, how can you gain resilience in a society that is so often toxic and unwelcoming? In this important workbook, you’ll discover how to cultivate the key components of resilience: holding a positive view of yourself and your abilities; knowing your worth and cultivating a strong sense of self-esteem; effectively utilizing resources; being assertive and creating a support community; fostering hope and growth within yourself, and finding the strength to help others. Once you know how to tap into your personal resilience, you’ll have an unlimited well you can draw from to navigate everyday challenges. By learning to challenge internalized negative messages and remove obstacles from your life, you can build the resilience you need to embrace your truest self in an imperfect world.

Book Desert Truffles

Download or read book Desert Truffles written by Varda Kagan-Zur and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-10-30 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Desert truffles are found in every known desert, irrespective of the habitat – cool or hot, loamy or acidic, sandy or heavy soil – the only common condition seems to be a limited supply of water. In contrast to ‘true’ truffles, desert truffles have evolved over time in different families, mainly within the order Pezizales. While in some arid areas, desert truffles have been traditionally used as food, in most regions interest has only recently been increasing, and truffles are now treasured for their nutritional value, as an income source and for research. This volume gives a comprehensive overview of the phylogeny, biology, mycorrhizal association, and distribution of desert truffles, their use, biochemical and medicinal properties, as well as their domestication and cultivation.

  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 9400912730

Download or read book Tree Rings written by Fritz Hans Schweingruber and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a meeting of dendrochronologists an American colleague described the effects of volcanic eruptions on annual ring formation in bristlecone pines. I knew very little about either volcanoes or American pines! At the same meeting European scientists spoke on the dendrochronological dating of lakeshore settlements and the effects of larch bud moth attack on trees in the Alps. It is possible that American participants were not in a position to fully appreciate these papers either. In other words, dendrochronology is an extremely interdisciplinary science; its facets range from modern statistics on wood anatomy to the history of art. It is difficult even for dendrochronol ogists to keep in touch with the whole spectrum, and even more difficult for the layman to obtain an overall view of the many methods and fields of application. In recent times specialisation has begun to hinder communication be tween the various sectors. Archaeologists, for instance, set up their own dendrochronological laboratories and construct independent chronologies to serve their particular interests. The scientific institutions which previously carried out such work are now turning more and more to strongly statistically or biologically-oriented questions. The full wealth of information contained in tree rings, however, will be revealed only when dendrochronologists make a concerted effort to relate the findings of the different fields. In spite of inevitable specialisation, it is necessary that the expert concern himself with the work of his colleagues.
