Download or read book Reclaiming Glory written by Mark Clifton and published by B&H Books. This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is there about a dying church that brings glory to God? Mark Clifton's convicting answer is "Nothing." Because a local church is intended to represent the work of God in a community, when that church "loses it saltiness," not only is God's work pictured as irrelevant in that community, but also dishonor and disrepute may well become associated with God's name as a result. In Reclaiming Glory, Clifton draws not only upon his own burden for revitalizing dying churches but also upon years of church replanting experience to offer passionate counsel for how to breathe new life into a dying church . . . all for the glory of the God who is building his church upon the immovable rock of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Download or read book Establishing the Kingdom of God written by Daryl Allen and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2007-02 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is a kingdom? What are the qualities of a kingdom? What makes up a kingdom? These are questions we westerners raise because we were never a part of a kingdom. The definition of a kingdom is "the territory or country subject to a king; an undivided territory under the dominion of a king or monarch." In other words, its king determines the qualities, characteristics, and nature of a kingdom. Those that dwell in that territory must have an understanding that it is the king that determines their way of thinking and living. We don't understand these qualities or characteristics that make up a kingdom. And because we don't fully understand it's difficult to get the full revelation of the kingdom of God. Jesus says that it is our heavenly Father's good pleasure to give us the kingdom. But to receive the kingdom we must recognize and understand the king so we can receive the kingdom.

Download or read book The Significance of Sinai written by George John Brooke and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2008 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of essays is concerned with ancient and modern Jewish and Christian views of the revelation at Sinai. The theme is highlighted in studies on the Dead Sea Scrolls, Paul, Josephus, rabbinic literature, art and philosophy. The contributions demonstrate that Sinai, as the location of the revelation, soon became less significant than the narratives that developed about what happened there. Those narratives were themselves transformed, not least to explain problems regarding the text's plain sense. Miraculous theophany, anthropomorphisms, the role of Moses, and the response of Israel were all handled with exegetical skills mustered by each new generation of readers. Furthermore, the content of the revelation, especially the covenant, was rethought in philosophical, political, and theological ways. This collection of studies is especially useful in showing something of the complexity of how scriptural traditions remain authoritative and lively for those who appeal to them from very different contexts.
