Book Social and Community Psychiatry

Download or read book Social and Community Psychiatry written by Stelios Stylianidis and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-14 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the basic theoretical and historical concepts and it describes current perspectives and data, focusing on good practices in community psychiatry in Greece and in other parts of Europe. Concepts such as the biopsychosocial model, psychiatric reform, psychosocial rehabilitation and the recovery model, as well as new case management models are approached from a critical, anthropocentric perspective. The current socioeconomic crisis in Europe brings with it new realities in mental health systems. New forms of social suffering are forcing the psychiatric community to re-examine what is considered normal. In order to respond to the complexity of the newly emerging needs, social and community psychiatry has been compelled to broaden the objectives of intervention and research alike, developing new and dynamic relations with complementary scientific fields such as social anthropology, psychoanalysis and microeconomics. The present work is the result of collaboration between professionals from across these different fields.

Book Comprendre la psychiatrie communautaire

Download or read book Comprendre la psychiatrie communautaire written by Henri Lasserre and published by Chronique Sociale. This book was released on 2008 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book From Revolution to Ethics Second Edition

Download or read book From Revolution to Ethics Second Edition written by Julian Bourg and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 2017-11-28 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner: CHOICE Outstanding Academic Book Award, CHOICE Magazine (2008) Winner: Morris D. Forkosch Prize for the best book in intellectual history, Journal of the History of Ideas (2008) The French revolts of May 1968, the largest general strike in twentieth-century Europe, were among the most famous and colourful episodes of the twentieth century. Julian Bourg argues that during the subsequent decade the revolts led to a remarkable paradigm shift in French thought - the concern for revolution in the 1960s was transformed into a fascination with ethics. Challenging the prevalent view that the 1960s did not have any lasting effect, From Revolution to Ethics shows how intellectuals and activists turned to ethics as the touchstone for understanding interpersonal, institutional, and political dilemmas. In absorbing and scrupulously researched detail Bourg explores the developing ethical fascination as it emerged among student Maoists courting terrorism, anti-psychiatric celebrations of madness, feminists mobilizing against rape, and pundits and philosophers championing humanitarianism. From Revolution to Ethics provides a compelling picture of how May 1968 helped make ethics a compass for navigating contemporary global concerns. In a new preface for the second edition published to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the events, Bourg assessses the worldwide influence of the ethical turn, from human rights to the return of religion and the new populism.

Download or read book Z rich 95 Open Questions in Analytical Psychology written by Mary Ann Mattoon and published by Daimon. This book was released on 1997 with total page 747 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Zurich Congress marked a return to the origins of Analytical Psychology: here it was that C.G. Jung lived for the first six decades of this century and developed the school of psychology he came to be known for. Here, too, is where many of today's Jungian analysts from all over the world received their training, and their initiation into the profession. As this collection of the complete proceedings attests, the theme of open questions drew a bountiful array of intriguing responses, and this to the largest gathering of Jungian analysts ever: more than 800 in all.

Book Cultural Consultation

  • Author : Laurence J. Kirmayer
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media

  • ISBN : 1461476151
  • Pages : 365 pages

Download or read book Cultural Consultation written by Laurence J. Kirmayer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-15 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on a recently completed project of cultural consultation in Montreal, Cultural Consultation presents a model of multicultural and applicable health care. This model used clinicians and consultants to provide in-depth assessment, treatment planning, and limited interventions in consultation with frontline primary care and mental health practitioners working with immigrants, refugees, and members of indigenous and ethnocultural communities. Evaluation of the service has demonstrated that focused interventions by consultants familiar with patients’ cultural backgrounds could improve the relationship between the patient and the primary clinician. This volume presents models for intercultural work in psychiatry and psychology in primary care, general hospital and specialty mental health settings. The editors highlight crucial topics such as: - Discussing the social context of intercultural mental health care, conceptual models of the role of culture in psychopathology and healing, and the development of a cultural consultation service and a specialized cultural psychiatric service - Examining the process of intercultural work more closely with particular emphasis oto strategies of consultation, the identity of the clinician, the ways in which gender and culture position the clinician, and interaction of the consultant with family systems and larger institutions - Highlighting special situations that may place specific demands on the clinician: working with refugees and survivors of torture or political violence, with separated families, and with patients with psychotic episodes This book is of valuable use to mental health practitioners who are working in multidisciplinary settings who seek to understand cultural difference in complex cases. Psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurse practitioners, primary care providers and trainees in these disciplines will make thorough use of the material covered in this text.
