Book ESPC ESA Case Study Energy Affordability at the National Institute of Standards and Technology

Download or read book ESPC ESA Case Study Energy Affordability at the National Institute of Standards and Technology written by and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, installed a 5 MW-DC photovoltaic (PV) system under an energy savings performance contract energy sales agreement (ESPC ESA). The project was implemented using the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) ESPC ENABLE contract vehicle. This project provides an example of the benefits of using an ESPC ESA to reduce project costs and provide the best value to the government, allowing the system owner to monetize tax incentives such as the federal investment tax credit (ITC) and Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS), and use or sell the solar renewable energy certificates (SRECs).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An energy savings performance contract energy sales agreement - referred to as an ESPC ESA or ESPC with an ESA - is a project structure that uses the multiyear ESPC authority to implement distributed energy projects on federal buildings or land. The distributed energy project implemented under an ESPC ESA is referred to as an ESA energy conservation measure, or ESA ECM.

Book ESPC ESA Case Study Energy Affordability at the Drug Enforcement Administration

Download or read book ESPC ESA Case Study Energy Affordability at the Drug Enforcement Administration written by and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC), located on Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX, installed 2.5 MW DC of photovoltaics (PV). This project was an energy sales agreement energy conservation measure (ESA ECM) using the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) energy savings performance contract (ESPC) ENABLE contract vehicle. The project represents an economical clean-energy solution that provides excellent construction and other trades-related jobs, and provides information that will help future ESPC ESA projects provide cost savings to the government.

Book Energy Master Planning toward Net Zero Energy Resilient Public Communities Guide

Download or read book Energy Master Planning toward Net Zero Energy Resilient Public Communities Guide written by Alexander Zhivov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-13 with total page 739 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Best practices from around the world have proven that holistic Energy Master Planning can be the key to identifying cost-effective solutions for energy systems that depend on climate zone, density of energy users, and local resources. Energy Master Planning can be applied to various scales of communities, e.g., to a group of buildings, a campus, a city, a region, or even an entire nation. Although the integration of the energy master planning into the community master planning process may be a challenging task, it also provides significant opportunities to support energy efficiency and community resilience by increasing budgets for investments derived from energy savings, by providing more resilient and cost-effective systems, by increasing comfort and quality of life, and by stimulating local production, which boosts local economies. The Guide is designed to provide a valuable information resource for those involved in community planning: energy systems engineers, architects, energy managers, and building operators. Specifically, this Guide was developed to support the application of the Energy Master Planning process through the lens of best practices and lessons learned from case studies from around the globe. The Guide introduces concepts and metrics for energy system resilience methodologies, and discusses business and financial models for Energy Master Plans implementation. This information can help planners to establish objectives and constraints for energy planning and to select and apply available technologies and energy system architectures applicable to their diverse local energy supply and demand situations. This Guide is a result of research conducted under the International Energy Agency (IEA) Energy in Buildings and Communities (EBC) Program Annex 73 and the US Department of Defense Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) project EW18-5281 to support the planning of Low Energy Resilient Public Communities process that is easy to understand and execute.

Book excerpt: Energy risk has reappeared on the corporate and social agenda with a bang and the complexity of the issues has increased many-fold since the days of the last great wave of concern following the oil crises of the 1970s. Steven Fawkes’ Energy Efficiency is a comprehensive guide for managers and policy-makers to the fundamental questions underpinning energy-efficiency and our responses to it: ¢ what do we really mean by energy efficiency? ¢ what is the potential (in different dimensions)? ¢ why it is important? ¢ what management processes lead to optimisation of energy efficiency? ¢ what technologies are useful for improving energy efficiency? ¢ what policies can be used to promote energy efficiency? ¢ how can energy efficiency be financed? ¢ how can energy suppliers engage with energy efficiency? The result is the most comprehensive review to-date of the barriers and opportunities associated with improving energy efficiency. Clearly written and erudite, Steven Fawkes addresses every aspect of energy efficiency, including the huge and vitally important untapped potential offered by effective energy management and the application of existing technology. He also identifies barriers, such as the rebound effect and how they can be mitigated and he provides a comprehensive review of innovative energy efficiency financing options. This book is a ’must read’ for anyone with an interest in energy supply and demand reduction.
