Q'en est-il de leurs effets sur les rapports de genre et les violences dans le couples ? Cet ouvrage propose une géographie sociale et féministe des rapports de genre, des violences conjugales et de l'accompagnement des victimes. À partir d'une enquête menée sur la période mars 2020-mars 2021, il montre que les inégalités habituellement constatées entre femmes et hommes ont été renforcées par la crise et que les politiques étatiques de restriction des mobilités ont pu entrer en résonance avec les logiques de contrôle spaciales des auteurs de violence. En outre, si la pandémie a été l'occasion d'une accélération dans la mise en oeuvre de mesures de lutte contre les violences , elle n'a pas constitué de rupture dans l'histoire de l'action publique. En ce sens, la crise sanitaire fonctionne comme un miroir grossissant des dynamiques et des tendances peu perceptibles d'ordinaire. Elle démontre l'importance cruciale de l'espace que les mois de confinement ont rendu impossible à ignorer.

These fundamentalisms are frequently sources of concern in social debates, in feminist and feminine organizations as well as in academia and politics. The manipulation of cultures and religions are becoming progressively political, and consequently can cause social discrimination, or even physical, moral, and symbolic violence. À partir de quels moments, pour quelles raisons et de quelles manières, la religion et la culture, lorsqu’elles se lient au politique, peuvent-elles être à la fois sources et lieux d’expression des fondamentalismes ? Ce sont les questions centrales qui traversent ce livre. Ce qui est considéré ici, c’est « la religion » lorsqu’elle est idéologie qui fonde la culture et devient outil d’accès au pouvoir moral, au pouvoir social et surtout au pouvoir politique. Les messages culturels et religieux et leurs interprétations sous-tendent souvent les décisions, les lois et les programmes prises par le politique. Ils ont des effets directs sur la société, en général, et sur les femmes et les rapports de genre, en particulier. Les contributions à cet ouvrage analysent les diverses formes du fondamentalisme dans quelques pays africains, leurs contextes d’émergence et la manière dont elles (re)façonnent les identités et les rapports hommes/femmes. Ces fondamentalismes constituent des sources de préoccupations persistantes dans les débats de société, aussi bien des organisations féministes et féminines que des mondes académiques et politiques. Les manipulations des cultures et des religions se font de plus en plus politiques et finissent par occasionner des discriminations sociales, voire des violences physiques, morales et symboliques assurément insoutenables.

An overwhelming amount of this work draws on evidence from Anglo-American police forces. These twin emphases have led to a limited view. Agencies such as criminal investigation units, intelligence services, private security companies, and military policing organizations have almost entirely escaped scholarly attention. In The Policing Web, Jean-Paul Brodeur looks at policing as a whole. He illuminates its full diversity, showing how it extends far beyond the confines of public police working in uniform and visible to all. Brodeur considers military policing, both when it complements the values of democracy and when it does not. He also discusses criminal individuals acting as police informants, and criminal organizations enforcing their own rules in urban zones deserted by the police. Brodeur argues that the diverse strands of the policing web are united by a common definition that emphasizes the license granted to policing agencies-legally or with impunity- to use means otherwise forbidden to the rest of the population.
