This book was released on 1997-01-01 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • A full-color collection of Eastern erotic art that presents lovemaking as a highly spiritual expression. • Brings together some of the finest examples of erotic art from India and Nepal, including pieces from the private collection of Nepalese royalty. • Includes commentaries and translations of verse from authentic Tantric treatises. • Companion book to The Erotic Sentiment in the Paintings of China and Japan. Hindu culture has always viewed lovemaking as one of the highest forms of spiritual and artistic expression. In the past it was customary to present newlyweds with beautifully painted erotic manuals on their wedding night. These "pillow books," often illustrated by great artists, helped to break down barriers and initiate the young couples into the aesthetics and techniques of physical love. A variety of pillow books are represented in The Erotic Sentiment, bringing together some of the finest examples from India and Nepal, including pieces from the private collection of a Nepalese king. Accompanying these exquisite reproductions are commentaries and translations of verse from authentic Tantric treatises. Together with the paintings, they elevate physical love to the spiritual realm of joyous ecstasy.
Download or read book Sacred Sexuality written by Kalyana Malla and published by Indoeuropeanpublishing.com. This book was released on 2023-02-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ananga Ranga (Stage of Love) or Kamaledhiplava (Boat in the Sea of Love) is an Indian sex manual written by Kalyana Malla in the 15th or 16th century AD. The poet wrote the work in honor of Lad Khan, son of Ahmed Khan Lodi. He was related to the Lodi dynasty, which from 1451 to 1526 ruled India. Later commentators have said it is aimed specifically at preventing the separation of a husband and wife. This work is often compared to the Kama Sutra, on which it draws. It was translated into English in the year 1885, under the editorship of Sir Richard Francis Burton . "Satisfaction and enjoyment comes for a man with possession of a beautiful woman. Men marry because of the peaceful gathering, love, and comfort and they often get nice and attractive women. But the men do not give the women full satisfaction The reason is due to the ignorance of the writings of the Kamashastra and the disdain of the different types of women. These men view women only from the perspective of an animal. They are foolish and spiritless". The work was intended to show that a woman is enough for a man. The book provides instructions in how a husband can promote the love for his wife through sexual pleasure. The husband can so greatly enjoy living with his wife, that it is as if he had lived with 32 different women. The increasingly varied sexual pleasures are able to produce harmony, thus preventing the married couple from getting tired of one another. In addition to the extensive catalogue of sexual positions for both partners, there are details regarding foreplay and lure.

Download or read book Leela written by Alka Pande and published by Collins India. This book was released on 2009-06-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This intimate book is for lovers to read together, or the perfect gift for someone you love. Leela is love play among the gods and mortals-captured magically on these pages by the imaginative matching of verse and art. In an increasingly global world where the demonic appetite for consumerism is gobbling up sensations and emotions, we literally need moments to step out of the frame and loose ourselves in the pleasure of the senses. This bedside companion is for those who wish to inhale its mood, catch their breath, and savour the beauty within their souls." Leela is a collection of Indian poetry from ancient to contemporary times, complemented by some extremely refreshing and original photography, graphics and paintings. The book emerges from the celebration of sensuality and desire in the Indian cultural landscape, where eros is a part of everyday life. Dipping into the classical texts, the Bhakti poets, Sufi mystics, and moving on to the bold canvas of contemporary verse, it presents a mood-filled bouquet meant to be enjoyed in a lover's company or alone. The visuals contributed by some extremely talented Indian contemporary artists and photographers, as well as two Americans who work with Indian themes, are highly erotic and aesthetic. They brilliantly illustrate the efflorescence of Indian visual arts within the global context. The works are starkly modern yet deeply rooted in the Indian erotic tradition and are a delight to the senses.
