Download or read book Victor Hasselblad written by Sören Gunnarsson and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Victor Hasselblad's life became dramatic and successful. As a youth he sought refuge in nature and photography and with time he became a world traveller and a successful industrialist. Victor Hasselblad : The Man Behind the Camera written by Sören Gunnarson is the result of many years of research and is based on extensive interviews and voluminous correspondence. Apart from relating the story of the man behind the camera, the book also contains a record of Hasselblad camera models and describes the events that took place when the company changed from analogue to digital photography. The Hasselblad camera made its huge breakthrough when the American astronauts began to use it in space. The photographs of the first men on the Moon are some of the most published images in the world. The camera also figured largely for more earthbound photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, working in the fields of advertising, fashion, photojournalism, portraiture, nature, science and medicine. The idea for his camera came to Victor Hasselblad (1906-78) in his youth when he travelled around the Swedish countryside to photograph birds. Never really satisfied with his results, he began to dream about a better camera.

Download or read book Dark Moon written by Mary Bennett and published by Adventures Unlimited Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the dust settles on the 30th anniversary of Apollo 11, information is now coming to light that throws into serious doubt the authenticity of the Apollo record. New evidence clearly suggests that NASA hoaxed the photographs taken on the surface of the Moon. These disturbing findings are supported by detailed analysis of the Apollo images by professional photographer David S Percy ARPS and physicist David Groves PhD. The numerous inconsistencies clearly visible in the Apollo photographic account are quite irrefutable. Recent research indicates that the errors evidenced in DARK MOON were deliberately planted by individuals determined to leave clues to the faking in which they were unwillingly involved. DARK MOON is the answer to the question-did the Apollo missions really land a man on the Moon and return him alive and well to Earth, or is the record incorrect?

Download or read book The Indigenous Lens written by Markus Ritter and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2017-12-18 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The historiography of early photography has scarcely examined Islamic countries in the Near and Middle East, although the new technique was adopted very quickly there by the 1840s. Which regional, local, and global aspects can be made evident? What role did autochthonous image and art traditions have, and which specific functions did photography meet since its introduction? This collective volume deals with examples from Iran, the Ottoman Empire, and the Arab lands and with the question of local specifics, or an „indigenous lens." The contributions broach the issues of regional histories of photography, local photographers, specific themes and practices, and historical collections in these countries. They offer, for the first time in book form, a cross-section through a developing field of the history of photography.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This volume chronicles the Museum's story from its opening, ten days after the stock market crash of 1929, in a few rented rooms in a midtown office building, up to the present day, in its new building on West Fifty-third and Fifty-fourth streets. The book presents a pictorial and documentary review of each year, and each important period, of the Museum's history. It tells the story of how The Museum of Modern Art, New York, began as a small set of art galleries inaugurated by three ladies of means who had a passion for modern art. Through a selection of photographs, official documents, letters, quotations, newspaper clippings, cartoons, and other ephemera, the complex and multilayered history of the Museum unfolds in a visual march through time, revealing the extraordinary vision of a determined group of individuals who had the ability and courage to translate their vision into reality" -- OhioLink Library Catalog.
