Download or read book Ergonomic Requirements for Office Work with Visual Display Terminals VDTs written by International Organization for Standardization and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This part of ISO 9241 establishes image quality requirements for the design and evaluation of single-and multi-colour VDTs. The requirements are stated as performance specifications and the evaluations provide test methods and conformance measurements. It should be noted that at present the recommendations are based on Latin, Cyrillic and Greek origin alphabetic characters and Arabic numerals. Other factors that affect performance and comform are coding format, and the style of presentation of information. With the exception of their visual aspects, they are not covered by this part of ISO 9241. This part of ISO 9241 applies to the ergonomic design of electronic displays for office tasks. Office tasks include such activities as data entry test processing and interactive inquiry but do not include recommendations for other specific applications such as computer-aided design or process control. The International standard ISO 9241 is a multi part international standard that deals with both the hardware and software ergonomic aspects of the use of VDTs.face pi ]

Book The Well Being of Video Display Terminal Users

Download or read book The Well Being of Video Display Terminal Users written by Mark S. Gottlieb and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 1999-02 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study investigated the well-being and working conditions of a heterogeneous sample of 248 VDT users and 85 non-users. An additional smaller sample of VDT users was assessed for their perceptions of changes in working conditions and health incident to the introduction of VDTs in their jobs. All participants were office workers employed by public agencies of the State of Wisconsin. All but 13 were females. The objectives were (1) to explore whether VDT users are at greater risk for job and health disturbances than their non-user counterparts, and (2) to identify potential causes of strain among VDT users.
