Book Equilibrium Theory in Infinite Dimensional Spaces

Download or read book Equilibrium Theory in Infinite Dimensional Spaces written by M. Ali Khan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Apart from the underlying theme that all the contributions to this volume pertain to models set in an infinite dimensional space, they differ on many counts. Some were written in the early seventies while others are reports of ongoing research done especially with this volume in mind. Some are surveys of material that can, at least at this point in time, be deemed to have attained a satisfactory solution of the problem, while oth ers represent initial forays into an original and novel formulation. Some furnish alternative proofs of known, and by now, classical results, while others can be seen as groping towards and exploring formulations that have not yet reached a definitive form. The subject matter also has a wide leeway, ranging from solution concepts for economies to those for games and also including representation of preferences and discussion of purely mathematical problems, all within the rubric of choice variables belonging to an infinite dimensional space, interpreted as a commodity space or as a strategy space. Thus, this is a collective enterprise in a fairly wide sense of the term and one with the diversity of which we have interfered as little as possible. Our motivation for bringing all of this work under one set of covers was severalfold.

Book General Equilibrium Growth and Trade II

Download or read book General Equilibrium Growth and Trade II written by Robert Becker and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: General Equilibrium, Growth, and Trade, Volume II: The Legacy of Lionel McKenzie presents the impact of Lionel McKenzie's contributions on modern economics. This book discusses McKenzie's researches that are relevant in applied economic fields, including general equilibrium, optimal growth, and international trade. Organized into three parts encompassing 24 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the existence of competitive equilibrium in an economy with a finite number of agents and commodities. This text then presents two analyses that are basically responses to criticism of the development of real indeterminacy. Other chapters consider McKenzie's assumption of irreducibility, which plays a significant role in showing how compensated equilibria will be uncompensated equilibria because agents have cheaper net trade vectors in their feasible sets. This book discusses as well some properties of competitive equilibria for dynamic exchange economies with an infinite horizon and incomplete financial markets. This book is a valuable resource for economists and economic theorists.

Book Handbook on Optimal Growth 1

Download or read book Handbook on Optimal Growth 1 written by Rose-Anne Dana and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-07-01 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of efficient or optimal allocation of resources is a fundamental concern of economic analysis. This book provides surveys of significant results of the theory of optimal growth, as well as the techniques of dynamic optimization theory on which they are based. Armed with the results and methods of this theory, a researcher will be in an advantageous position to apply these versatile methods of analysis to new issues in the area of dynamic economics.

Book Nonlinear Dynamics in Equilibrium Models

Download or read book Nonlinear Dynamics in Equilibrium Models written by John Stachurski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-25 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optimal growth theory studies the problem of efficient resource allocation over time, a fundamental concern of economic research. Since the 1970s, the techniques of nonlinear dynamical systems have become a vital tool in optimal growth theory, illuminating dynamics and demonstrating the possibility of endogenous economic fluctuations. Kazuo Nishimura's seminal contributions on business cycles, chaotic equilibria and indeterminacy have been central to this development, transforming our understanding of economic growth, cycles, and the relationship between them. The subjects of Kazuo's analysis remain of fundamental importance to modern economic theory. This book collects his major contributions in a single volume. Kazuo Nishimura has been recognized for his contributions to economic theory on many occasions, being elected fellow of the Econometric Society and serving as an editor of several major journals.
