Book Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory Wildland Fire Management Environmental Assessment

Download or read book Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory Wildland Fire Management Environmental Assessment written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DOE prepared an environmental assessment (EA)for wildland fire management activities on the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) (DOE/EA-1372). The EA was developed to evaluate wildland fire management options for pre-fire, fire suppression, and post fire activities. Those activities have an important role in minimizing the conversion of the native sagebrush steppe ecosystem found on the INEEL to non-native weeds. Four alternative management approaches were analyzed: Alternative 1 - maximum fire protection; Alternative 2 - balanced fire protection; Alternative 2 - balanced fire protection; Alternative 3 - protect infrastructure and personnel; and Alternative 4 - no action/traditional fire protection.

Book Wildland Fire Danger Estimation And Mapping The Role Of Remote Sensing Data

Download or read book Wildland Fire Danger Estimation And Mapping The Role Of Remote Sensing Data written by Emilio Chuvieco and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003-09-29 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents a wide range of techniques for extracting information from satellite remote sensing images in forest fire danger assessment. It covers the main concepts involved in fire danger rating, and analyses the inputs derived from remotely sensed data for mapping fire danger at both the local and global scale. The questions addressed concern the estimation of fuel moisture content, the description of fuel structural properties, the estimation of meteorological danger indices, the analysis of human factors associated with fire ignition, and the integration of different risk factors in a geographic information system for fire danger management.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division Point Mugu is located in Ventura County along the Pacific Coast of Southern California and includes 36,000 square mile ... Point Mugu Sea Range. ... Potential environmental impacts have been analyzed for all relevant ... issue areas, with separate sections on geology and soils; air quality; marine sediments and water quality; noise; biological resources; cultural resources; airspace, land, and water use; public safety; and hazardous materials. The increase in loud noise events associated with the proposed action would potentially affect wildlife species, including threatened and endangered species at Point Mugu and San Nicolas Island. However, with implementation of proposed conservation measures, there would be no significant impacts to wildlife species..."--Abstract.
