Download or read book Environmental Analysis of Cooperative Research Contract for the Marysville Geothermal Project written by and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proposed action is to revise the existing Cooperative Research Contract to authorize the deep test well drilling phase of an on-going research project ... The well site is in T. 12 N., R. 6 W., PMM, Sec. 32, in the valley of Empire Creek near Marysville in southwestern Lewis and Clark County, Montana ... The objective of this research project is to investigate a geothermal anomaly of high heat flow discovered in 1969 in west-central Montana, and to determine how this natural resource might be developed as a source of useful energy. Under Phase I, the natural resource will be explored, drilled, and modeled at an estimated cost of 2,588,935 dollars over a 3-year period. Phase II, depending on the nature of the heat source, will be to develop the resource under a cooperative effort of government and private industry. This environmental analysis is intended to cover the drilling and logging operations noted under Phase I.

Book Managing Innovation and Change

Download or read book Managing Innovation and Change written by Sven B. Lundstedt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technological innovations, as well as the social innovations needed to provide adequate support systems for them, are among the important foundations for economic and industrial growth in the world today. Consequently, the discussions in this important volume of the emerg ing "sociotechnical" trends in various industries around the world are highly instructive and timely. We can learn much of value from oth ers around the world who are facing similar problems of economic and industrial development. Sociotechnical innovation requires a global set ting to be fully understood and appreciated because so much new eco nomic activity that serves the economy of the United States, as well as the economies of other countries, is found in other parts of the world including not only manufacturing innovations, but innovations in the service industries. For all of our economic self-interests, we need to view innovation globally. Sociotechnical innovation is linked with the successful development of cutting edge technologies, such as ultra large-scale integrated elec tronic systems, new larger computers, the "myria-process" systems in computing architecture that use thousands of processors, new biochem ical solutions in high-cost feedstock, applications of genetic engineer ing to crop improvement, and biotechnological improvements in the pharmaceutical industries. There are also developments in the materi als field: new fiber-reinforced plastics, rapid solidification technologies, new polymers and ceramics. And there are advances in air transport technologies that may replace current technologies [1].

Book Adapting Buildings and Cities for Climate Change

Download or read book Adapting Buildings and Cities for Climate Change written by David Crichton and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2009-10-26 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the bestselling author of Ecohouse, this fully revised edition of Adapting Buildings and Cities for Climate Change provides unique insights into how we can protect our buildings, cities, infra-structures and lifestyles against risks associated with extreme weather and related social, economic and energy events. Three new chapters present evidence of escalating rates of environmental change. The authors explore the growing urgency for mitigation and adaptation responses that deal with the resulting challenges. Theoretical information sits alongside practical design guidelines, so architects, designers and planners can not only see clearly what problems they face, but also find the solutions they need, in order to respond to power and water supply needs. Considers use of materials, structures, site issues and planning in order to provide design solutions. Examines recent climate events in the US and UK and looks at how architecture was successful or not in preventing building damage. Adapting Buildings and Cities for Climate Change is an essential source, not just for architects, engineers and planners facing the challenges of designing our building for a changing climate, but also for everyone involved in their production and use.
