Book Towards the sustainability of the Mexican National Health System

Download or read book Towards the sustainability of the Mexican National Health System written by Yessica Pamela Flores Subias and published by Editorial Fontamara S. A. de C. V.. This book was released on 2023-11-09 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book was oriented towards achieving two main objectives. The first of them was to create a description of the main changes that have been made to the system since the beginning of the 2018-2024 Administration in Mexico. The diversity of the reforms and their scope make it difficult for the population to follow up on them and know how their right to health protection will be guaranteed. Thus, understanding the impact and extension of the reforms was one of the priorities of this study. Consequently, it was sought to develop a consultation document that allows identifying the current state of the SNS. The World Health Organization (who) has pointed out that health systems comprise all the institutions, organizations and resources used to produce actions aimed at improving health. Its performance can be measured based on its ability to respond to the needs of the population through actions such as increasing equality in access to health, reducing health risks and protecting individuals from the financial consequences caused by hight costs deseases. In this way, it is imperative that health systems have an efficient design that allows guaranteeing the protection of the right to health.

Book The Demographic Dividend

Download or read book The Demographic Dividend written by David Bloom and published by Rand Corporation. This book was released on 2003-02-13 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is long-standing debate on how population growth affects national economies. A new report from Population Matters examines the history of this debate and synthesizes current research on the topic. The authors, led by Harvard economist David Bloom, conclude that population age structure, more than size or growth per se, affects economic development, and that reducing high fertility can create opportunities for economic growth if the right kinds of educational, health, and labor-market policies are in place. The report also examines specific regions of the world and how their differing policy environments have affected the relationship between population change and economic development.

Book Inclusive Social Protection in Latin America

Download or read book Inclusive Social Protection in Latin America written by Simone Cecchini (ECLAC.) and published by UN. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication examines the main debates under way on social protection and co-responsibility transfer programmes. It identifies the role played by these programmes and considers the conceptual elements, needs and the challenges that will have to be overcome to consolidate comprehensive social protection systems in Latin America. The authors argue that these should be solidarity-based systems that provide universal coverage and are essentially egalitarian in the guarantees established as citizens' rights. Citizenship as a whole is thus becoming part of protection policies as the region moves towards all-encompassing social policies that combine the complementary principles of targeting as the instrument and universality as the end.

Book Living in Indigenous Sovereignty

Download or read book Living in Indigenous Sovereignty written by Elizabeth Carlson-Manathara and published by Fernwood Publishing. This book was released on 2021-04-15T00:00:00Z with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last decade, the relationship between settler Canadians and Indigenous Peoples has been highlighted by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, the Idle No More movement, the Wet’suwet’en struggle against pipeline development and other Indigenous-led struggles for Indigenous sovereignty and decolonization. Increasing numbers of Canadians are beginning to recognize how settler colonialism continues to shape relationships on these lands. With this recognition comes the question many settler Canadians are now asking, what can I do? Living in Indigenous Sovereignty lifts up the wisdom of Indigenous scholars, activists and knowledge keepers who speak pointedly to what they are asking of non-Indigenous people. It also shares the experiences of thirteen white settler Canadians who are deeply engaged in solidarity work with Indigenous Peoples. Together, these stories offer inspiration and guidance for settler Canadians who wish to live honourably in relationship with Indigenous Peoples, laws and lands. If Canadians truly want to achieve this goal, Carlson and Rowe argue, they will pursue a reorientation of their lives toward “living in Indigenous sovereignty” — living in an awareness that these are Indigenous lands, containing relationships, laws, protocols, stories, obligations and opportunities that have been understood and practised by Indigenous peoples since time immemorial. Collectively, these stories will help settler Canadians understand what transformations we must undertake if we are to fundamentally shift our current relations and find a new way forward, together.
