Book La vie priv e l re du num rique

Download or read book La vie priv e l re du num rique written by REY Bénédicte and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-09-05 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Marketing Democracy

  • Author : Romain Laufer
  • Publisher : Transaction Publishers

Download or read book Marketing Democracy written by Romain Laufer and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on 2011-12-31 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines mass marketing techniques in a political rather than economic context. The authors’ thesis remains persuasive: democratic politics, precisely because it requires mass support for its legitimation, increases the need for public opinion to be channelized and focused. This is precisely the task of marketing in the political process. Increasingly, advanced societies are involved in symbolic rather than direct forms of struggle. As a result, management of ideas becomes crucial to both political survival and economic expansion. Romain Laufer and Catherine Paradeise argue that public opinion and media formation is built into the fabric of Western political culture, dating from the Sophists in ancient Greece through Machiavelli in the aristocratic baronies of pre-capitalist Europe. With the rise of the bureaucratic-administrative state in the West, the need for persuasive public opinion analysis became part of the fabric of the advanced Western democratic and capitalist nations. The volume benefits from authors trained and familiar with the traditions of both the United States and Europe. They are able to consider contrasts in marketing styles as well as continuities of contents among advanced nation-states. No simple “how-to” manual, this bracingly different volume discusses its subject with an easy command of the philosophical and cultural literatures, as well as the major classics of economics, sociology, and political science.

Book Political Marketing in Canada

Download or read book Political Marketing in Canada written by Alex Marland and published by UBC Press. This book was released on 2012-02-15 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Political parties worldwide are using marketing tools such as targeting and segmentation to win elections. Are these strategies making politicians and governments more responsive to voters’ needs, or do they pose a threat to democracy? Political Marketing in Canada, the first book to ask this question of Canada, considers the consequences of political marketing in the realms of public policy, leadership, and the government-citizen relationship. Through dynamic case studies that range from the resurrection of the Conservative Party, to media accounts of political marketing, to Tim Hortons as a political brand, the authors trace how political marketing is transforming the old system of brokerage politics into a new, distinctly Canadian model. Citizens are now viewed as consumers, and platforms and promises have been repackaged as products. Whether this trend is positive or negative, the authors argue, depends on how politicians and governments carry out political marketing – and its promises – in practice.

Book Market Frictions

Download or read book Market Frictions written by Kirsten W. Endres and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2019-06-06 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on ethnographic research conducted over several years, Market Frictions examines the tensions and frictions that emerge from the interaction of global market forces, urban planning policies, and small-scale trading activities in the Vietnamese border city of Lào Cai. Here, it is revealed how small-scale traders and market vendors experience the marketplace, reflect upon their trading activities, and negotiate current state policies and regulations. It shows how “traditional” Vietnamese marketplaces have continually been reshaped and adapted to meet the changing political-economic circumstances and civilizational ideals of the time.

Book Histoire Soci t et tudes Islamiques Au 21e Si cle

Download or read book Histoire Soci t et tudes Islamiques Au 21e Si cle written by Vincent Legrand and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2024-08-05 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Charles De Gaulle and the Media

Download or read book Charles De Gaulle and the Media written by Riccardo Brizzi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores Charles De Gaulle's use and strict control of television between 1958 and 1969, highlighting the association between charismatic power and television with regards to legitimizing the Gaullist leadership and determining an evolution towards presidentialism during the Fifth Republic. A protagonist of European political history of the twentieth century, Charles de Gaulle was a pioneer in the use of mass media: in the Second World War he had earned the nickname of Général-micro due to his reliance on radio communication; in 1958 he then started an substantive and fruitful use of television, which some of his opponents labelled as ‘telecracy’. From difficult beginnings, where he followed the advice of publicity and communication experts, through his masterful TV appearances during the dramatic moments of the Algerian War, to the presidential campaign of 1965 and the crisis of May 1968, the author paints a compelling fresco of de Gaulle as the first TV leader in contemporary European history. The book will appeal to students and scholars interested in the fields of French politics, political communication and political leadership.
