Book Youth Entrepreneurship and Local Development in Central and Eastern Europe

Download or read book Youth Entrepreneurship and Local Development in Central and Eastern Europe written by Bruno Dallago and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses the opportunities and barriers for youth entrepreneurship amid systemic change in Central and Eastern Europe. The authors cover different aspects of youth entrepreneurship and its contribution to the debate on youth unemployment in transition economies. The book discusses the wide-spread over-optimism regarding youth entrepreneurship, self-employment, and its impact on economic innovation and job creation, resulting from a disregard of critical contextual features and the characteristics of young entrepreneurs themselves. The authors give due acknowledgment of the importance of both factors and so fully understand the impediments to youth entrepreneurship, especially in a transition context. Furthermore, they seek to assess the opportunities and constraints of promotion policies in transition economies. Most importantly, the book provides the first empirical contribution to youth entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe by offering a representative number of case studies. The book will be invaluable reading for scholars and students of transition and developing countries, particularly those with an interest in entrepreneurship.

Book excerpt: Much of the research on transformation/transition in Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) focuses on macroeconomic issues (inflation, economic growth, employment ...). Book Entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe

Download or read book Entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe written by Tõnis Mets and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-14 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The process of the transition to a market-oriented economy for countries from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) started some 25 years ago. A new technology base triggered the fast growth of new investments into intangible assets by global economic leaders at the beginning of the 1990s, providing the basis for a move towards a knowledge economy. During the past 25 years, entrepreneurs in CEE and the CIS have reshaped traditional industries and created new industries, combining innovative ideas with traditional competencies. Yet we still do not know very much about how and why companies led by entrepreneurs develop, how they expand globally and what the role of new knowledge and innovation is in the internationalization process. Understanding the pathways of entrepreneurial development, especially growth through internationalization, is important for the overall development of countries in transition and beyond. Entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe: Development through Internationalization provides an overview of entrepreneurship in a range of important emerging markets. This book aims to fill the gap in the literature by providing up-to-date data and case-based evidence. With coverage of a range of national firms from countries including Belarus, Estonia, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine, this book will be vital supplementary reading around international entrepreneurship and essential reading for those studying the business environment in this vital emerging market.

Book Handbook of Research on Entrepreneurship Policies in Central and Eastern Europe

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Entrepreneurship Policies in Central and Eastern Europe written by Friederike Welter and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2011 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique Handbook explores the role of government in the development of entrepreneurship in countries where twenty years ago private enterprise was illegal or barely tolerated. The expert contributors reveal that government policy is one of the key influences on the external environment in which businesses develop, particularly in countries where it has been necessary to redefine the role of the state in relation to business development. They outline how government policy can also act as an enabling and/or a constraining force with respect to entrepreneurship development, particularly in relation to institutional change and the development of a market-based economy. This Handbook includes up-to-date information and analysis as to how entrepreneurship policies have evolved in the wider Europe, focusing on the challenges that arise in designing and implementing entrepreneurship policy. The Handbook of Research on Entrepreneurship Policies in Central and Eastern Europe excellently covers different facets of entrepreneurship policies in Central and Eastern Europe and will prove invaluable for academics, students and researchers of entrepreneurship and small business as well as policy studies. Policy makers will also find plenty of key insights and relevant information in this important resource.

Book Entrepreneurship in CentralEast Europe

Download or read book Entrepreneurship in CentralEast Europe written by Jana Sereghyova and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The transformation process, on which all four CentralEast European countries, i.e. the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic, have em barked, has become the subject of numerous publications. But as yet the majority of them dealt with institutional (systematic) changes and their implications for macroeconomic developments, while changes going on in the enterprise sphere received as yet only little attention. Even the few publications dealing with mi croeconomic topics focused only on individual issues and are thus unable to give a comprehensive picture of new entrepreneurial opportunities emerging in these countries. In order to fill this gap, economists from the Czech Republic, Germany, Hun gary, Poland and Spain put forward a proposition to analyse these developments in the framework of the A.C.E. programme of the European Communities. The E.C. included the research project entitled "Entrepreneurship in CentralEast Eu ropean Countries in the Framework of Increasing East-West Economic Compati bility" into the second round of that programme.

Book Entrepreneurship and Economic Transition in Central Europe

Download or read book Entrepreneurship and Economic Transition in Central Europe written by Jean-Paul Larçon and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Central European economies have been moving rapidly toward a common set of goals: political democracy, market-oriented economies and integration into the European and international business community. For businesses, Central Europe offers a unique window of opportunity and, in particular, two comparative advantages: a low-cost qualified workforce and stronger growth rates than mature Western European economies. This opportunity, seized by local entrepreneurs and foreign enterprises alike, is a significant competitive threat to companies not present in the region, or who have not found alternative strategies for increased growth and competitiveness. This book addresses economic transitions in Central Europe and analyzes the problems of Central European integration in the European Union.
