Download or read book Entrepreneurship Education and Entrepreneurial Behaviour Among Undergraduate Students in Sabah Malaysia written by Noor Fzlinda Fabeil and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study explores the impact of entrepreneurship education in the university on student's entrepreneurial behaviour, in terms of their entrepreneurial attitudes and start-up intention. The paper aims to investigate the perceived influence that various entrepreneurship education courses have had on third-year undergraduate students from business and non-business study programs in University Malaysia Sabah. The questionnaires were distributed via Google Forms, which gathers students' perspectives on their entrepreneurial attitudes (achievement, innovation, personal control and self-esteem), and start-up intention. The results of chi-squared test revealed that innovation, personal control and self-esteem are the most influential impacts of entrepreneurship education among undergraduate students. In addition, the results of One-Way ANOVA showed significant differences among types of student's degree programs in terms of their achievement, innovation, external support and start-up intention. The study also provides qualitative insights from students' perspectives about the challenges that they think could hinder students to start a business. This study hopes to contribute to the university and other institutions of higher learning in Malaysia in preparing the appropriate entrepreneurial education approach for the students towards materialising the government agenda to become 'Entrepreneurial Nation' by 2030.

Book Entrepreneurial Activity in Malaysia

Download or read book Entrepreneurial Activity in Malaysia written by Paul Jones and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-06 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite being the third largest economy in Southeast Asia, Malaysian entrepreneurial activity is under-reported in the scholarly literature. This book extends such research by examining the impact of entrepreneurship on its economy and evaluating the existing systemic problems. The Malaysian economy has benefited from the density of knowledge-based businesses and utilization of the latest technologies in the manufacturing and digital economies. However, Malaysia faces ongoing challenges, namely concentration of wealth in the city, high regional unemployment and workplace gender inequality. In regional areas, there is an over-reliance on agriculture and necessity based entrepreneurship. Consequently, entrepreneurial activity has been encouraged with the creation of eco-systems, seed corn funding and provision of entrepreneurship education to offer entrepreneurial career choices. Providing recommendations and best practice for driving entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial behaviours, this contributed volume presents the first opportunity to reflect on both the success stories and systemic problems related to effective entrepreneurial behaviour in a South East Asian context.

Book Do University Entrepreneurship Programs Influence Students Entrepreneurial Behavior An Empirical Analysis of University Students in Singapore

Download or read book Do University Entrepreneurship Programs Influence Students Entrepreneurial Behavior An Empirical Analysis of University Students in Singapore written by Poh Kam Wong and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper investigates empirically the link between entrepreneurship education programs and students' entrepreneurial behavior, with a particular focus on the distinction between experiential and classroom-based education. We introduce a more refined measure of entrepreneurial engagement that combines entrepreneurship intention and actual steps taken to realize that intention. Using data from a survey of 836 students at the National University of Singapore (NUS), we utilize linear regression models to examine not only the direct effect of entrepreneurship education program participation on entrepreneurial engagement, but also its possible interaction effect with several psychological constructs drawn from the Theory of Planned Behavior. The results show that participation in university entrepreneurship programs, especially experiential learning programs, has significant positive influence on students' entrepreneurial engagement. Moreover, the effect of program participation is significantly moderated by the students' attitudes and perceptions. The findings have important practical implications for universities in designing entrepreneurship programs on campus. The study supports the call to move towards hands-on experiential programs as a more effective way for educational institutions to influence students' entrepreneurial behavior and encourage venture creation activity on campus. We also contribute to the literature by confirming the impact of entrepreneurship education not only on entrepreneurial intentions but also on the concrete steps taken by students towards venture creation.

Book Entrepreneurship Education and Entrepreneurial Intentions

Download or read book Entrepreneurship Education and Entrepreneurial Intentions written by Dr. Emmanuel Ajike and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: University education is no longer a passport to secure employment for graduates. This requires young graduates to consider entrepreneurship and self-employment as a viable career option. While the number of entrepreneurship education programmes is growing, their impact is under researched and studies paint an ambiguous picture of the impact of entrepreneurship education. Understanding the determinants of entrepreneurial intention, therefore, becomes important. Drawing on the theory of planned behaviour, this study investigates the impact of entrepreneurship education on the entrepreneurial intention of students in higher education in Nigeria. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The sample for this study comprises of final year Business Administration and Marketing students from selected private Universities. The data collected was analysed using correlation analysis. The results show that participants (students) of entrepreneurship education programs are more likely to have higher intention to form their own businesses compared to non-participants. Furthermore, attitude toward entrepreneurship, subjective norm, and perceived behavioural control mediate the relationship between Entrepreneurship Education and Entrepreneurial intentions. The findings of this report contribute both to the Theory of Planned Behaviour and to the field of entrepreneurship education. On the whole, the findings derived suggest that, in order to promote graduate entrepreneurship, multifaceted and concerted efforts will be required from policy makers (to help shape institutions), practitioners (to devise and implement collaborative support mechanisms), educators (to design and deliver appropriate Entrepreneurship Education content and pedagogy) and scholars (to evaluate and develop knowledge).
