This book was released on 2011 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the present economic scenario, entrepreneurial development has assumed increased significance because the objective of industrial development, regional growth, and employment generation depend greatly on it. In fact, entrepreneurial development is a key to economic development. Similarly, small-scale industries and small business enterprises today constitute a very important segment in the Indian economy, and are also closely linked to entrepreneurial and economic development. However, the process of liberalization and economic reforms since 1991, though creating tremendous opportunities for the growth of entrepreneurship and SSIs, have thrown up new challenges of building competitive strengths, introducing technology up-gradation and quality improvement, and increasing productivity. Entrepreneurship Development and Small Business Enterprises: For Chaudhary Charan Singh University examines these issues and offers valuable input and insight to students of this subject. Enriched by the author's rich experience in both industry and teaching, it successfully reduces the gap between practical industry experiences and theoretical institutional studies by giving real and practical examples.

Book Entrepreneurship Education

Download or read book Entrepreneurship Education written by Jasmer Singh Saini and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "There is a growing realisation across the world about the potential contribution of small enterprises towards socio-economic development of a nation. Job opportunities in organised sector--be it government or private--are either stagnating or receding. Yet another feature, which is visible particularly in India, is the increasing casualisation and contractualisation of work. The present trends call for instilling the spirit of entrepreneurship among our youth. This volume provides sufficient insights to suggest that entrepreneurship education and training in various streams of education is not only of paramount importance but also an area worth exploring further. Small business policy formulators, small business teachers, entrepreneurs, entrepreneur-trainer-motivators and students of entrepreneurship would find this book informative and useful"

Book Gender Issues in Entrepreneurship

Download or read book Gender Issues in Entrepreneurship written by Maria Minniti and published by Now Publishers Inc. This book was released on 2009 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Entrepreneurship is a human universal. All over the world, and throughout history, people have created businesses. Yet, although women make up more than 50 percent of the world population, they own and manage significantly fewer businesses than men. Venture types and management styles vary across genders as well. Women entrepreneurship presents several distinctive characteristics that differentiate it from men entrepreneurship. But variations exist also across women entrepreneurs in various countries, and between women who are involved in entrepreneurship and those who are not. Overall, the explanation for the behavior of women entrepreneurs and its distinctiveness is complex and multifaceted. Evidence to date suggests that reasons contributing to explaining these differences include demographic and socio-economic variables, subjective perceptions, and cultural factors and institutions, and that such differences have significant implications at the macro-economic level. Studying female entrepreneurship allows researchers to ask questions that shed light on the linkages between entrepreneurship and wealth creation, employment choices and cognition, human capital accumulation and labor market structure, employment choice and family dynamics, business creation and peace, and many others. From a scientific point of view, the study of female entrepreneurship as a distinct area of inquiry informs us not only about women behavior, but also about entrepreneurial and human behaviors in general. All over the world, female entrepreneurship has become an important component of academic and policy conversations around entrepreneurship. Still, there is much we don't yet understand. Taking stock of what has been learned so far, identifying the main gaps, and encourage scholars to push the frontier of knowledge in this area further are the goals of this work.

Book SMEs in Developing Asia

Download or read book SMEs in Developing Asia written by Paul Vandenberg and published by . This book was released on 2017-02-28 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A vibrant stratum of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is critical for the growth and development of Asian economies. These enterprises generate employment, contribute to investment, participate in value chains, and support innovation. SMEs that seek to sustain and grow their operations, however, face a variety of constraints, many of which are directly related to size. These so-called "size-induced market failures" create a role for public policy interventions by governments throughout the region. This book focuses on the market failures encountered by enterprises in the key areas of technology and innovation, credit and finance, education and skills, and market access. Obstacles to participation in the rapidly expanding regional and global value chains are also examined. Among a variety of issues, the book explores the "missing middle" in credit facilities for enterprises that are beyond microcredit but not yet able to secure regular loans from banks. The book investigates the barriers to innovation and how best to combine internal and external research and development. It also looks at the hiring versus training options to build human capital. The various chapter authors examine national and multicountry experiences in South and East Asia, ranging from those in Pakistan to Japan.
