Book Faith s Checkbook Sea Harp Timeless series

Download or read book Faith s Checkbook Sea Harp Timeless series written by Charles H. Spurgeon and published by Destiny Image Publishers. This book was released on 2022-09-20 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout Scripture, God promises the impossible to those who believe. For many Christians, the promises of God have lost their power. Deemed as irrelevant or simply misunderstood, God's promises—of triumph, abundance, redemption, and countless blessings—are often ignored, forgotten, and seemingly unfulfilled. However, for Charles H. Spurgeon, God’s promises were timeless. In fact, they seemed to grow in power and hope over the course of his life. In Faith’s Checkbook, Spurgeon shares his personal experience testing and proving Scripture’s promises and his ongoing discovery of a relentlessly good, kind and faithful God. He urges believers to treat God’s promises as they would a check—to receive them, endorse them and actively "cash them in." Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892), renowned 19th century Baptist preacher, is best known for his 1866 publication Morning and Evening. Over 20 years later, Spurgeon wrote Faith’s Checkbook, a yearlong devotional that inspires believers to see and experience God’s goodness. Written near the end of his life, in the depths of a season marked by incredible loneliness, spiritual controversies and health complications, Faith’s Checkbook is full of honest, heartfelt and mature hope. Spurgeon’s breathtaking sincerity and provoking thoughts will encourage believers to: Study and engage God’s promises throughout Scripture Expect these promises to be fulfilled in their daily life Participate by receiving God’s promises and praying for their fulfillment Glimpse God’s boundless goodness and faithfulness Discover a renewed, child-like trust in Him In Faith’s Checkbook, the reader will encounter God’s outstretched hand—through promises of provision, wisdom, fruitfulness, presence and much more—and be invited to respond with hopeful anticipation.

Book On Christ and Antichrist

Download or read book On Christ and Antichrist written by St. Hippolytus and published by Dalcassian Publishing Company. This book was released on 2019-11-02 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hippolytus of Rome (170–235) was the most important 3rd-century theologian in the Christian Church in Rome, where he was probably born. Photios I of Constantinople describes him in his Bibliotheca (cod. 121) as a disciple of Irenaeus, who was said to be a disciple of Polycarp, and from the context of this passage it is supposed that he suggested that Hippolytus himself so styled himself. However, this assertion is doubtful. He came into conflict with the popes of his time and seems to have headed a schismatic group as a rival Bishop of Rome. For that reason he is sometimes considered the first antipope. He opposed the Roman bishops who softened the penitential system to accommodate the large number of new pagan converts. However, he was very probably reconciled to the Church when he died as a martyr. Starting in the 4th century, various legends arose about him, identifying him as a priest of the Novatianist schism or as a soldier converted by Saint Lawrence. He has also been confused with another martyr of the same name. Ironically, it is Pius IV who identifies him as "Saint Hippolytus, Bishop of Pontus" who was martyred in the reign of Alexander Severus through his inscription on a statue found at the Church of St. Lawrence in Rome and kept at the Vatican as photographed and published in Brunsen.

Book Philosophical Midwifery

Download or read book Philosophical Midwifery written by Pierre Grimes and published by Bookbaby. This book was released on 2023-04-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since we accept as part of the natural order of life that parents love their children, sacrifice for them, and desire to influence the direction of their lives, it is possible to make that love and caring more profound and mature if we understand the significance of how, as parents and authorities, we unknowingly influence the lives of our children. When we reveal to them our most vital concerns, we do not realize that children draw their own conclusions from these encounters, and it is these conclusions that may adversely affect the understanding that shapes and molds their lives. We need to encourage families to create situations for family members where these pathologos scenes and the conclusions drawn from them can be discussed, reflected upon, and reexamined, thereby making the meaning of these words and deeds fit into a context other than the matrix of the pathologos. To achieve this goal, an openness to questions and discussions needs to be established in our society. A philosophical midwifery (PMW) approach could conceivably benefit those who recognize this need.
