Book excerpt: Introduction : En pleine pandémie de COVID-19, les adolescents et jeunes adultes sont plus susceptibles de fréquenter des lieux où les contacts sont nombreux. Ils ont une plus grande probabilité de présenter des formes asymptomatiques et de percevoir la maladie comme peu à risque pour leur santé. Dans ce contexte, ils pourraient se montrer moins attentifs aux gestes qu'ils mettent en place. Il importe de soutenir l'adoption des mesures préventives par les jeunes en développant des environnements favorables aux choix sécuritaires. Dans le cadre du plan de prévention régional visant à la réduction des risques de contamination au virus Sars-Cov-2 déployé par l'ARS BFC, plus de 200 professionnels de la jeunesse de la région ont bénéficié d'une formation à l'approche de promotion de la santé. La formation consistait en des interventions brèves par l'Ireps BFC auprès des professionnels. L'accompagnement de l'Ireps BFC se basait sur l'engagement communautaire, un processus de collaboration entre les personnes qui ont des intérêts communs ou sont dans des situations similaires, tout en respectant les problèmes affectant leur bien-être. L'objectif de ce travail était d'étudier les effets de la stratégie d'engagement communautaire perçus par les professionnels formés par l'Ireps BFC. Méthodologie : Une enquête qualitative exploratoire a été réalisée auprès de 15 professionnels de la jeunesse de la région afin d'étudier leur vécu de l'accompagnement par l'Ireps, les effets de l'approche sur leur pratique professionnelle et sur les actions mises en œuvre auprès des jeunes. Résultats : Les principaux effets perçus de l'engagement se traduisaient par l'adoption d'une posture professionnelle positive, non culpabilisatrice, à l'écoute des besoins réels de leur public et propice à la création d'espaces d'échange et de réflexion partagée avec les jeunes. Les professionnels ont bien assimilé l'approche de promotion de la santé et la majorité d'entre eux ont mis en place des espaces dits « environnements capacitants ». La création de ces environnements pourrait améliorer l'empowerment des jeunes et par conséquent, favoriser leur adoption de comportements protecteurs face à la pandémie. Conclusion : Couplé à l'analyse de la littérature, ce travail réaffirme l'importance de la stratégie d'engagement communautaire pour la mise en œuvre d'actions favorables en santé. Il serait intéressant d'enrichir ce travail par l'exploration des effets directs perçus par les jeunes sur leur empowerment et leurs comportements en santé.

Author of the famous Treatise on Political Economy in 1803, which was revised and re-edited on several occasions, he published numerous other works including a voluminous Complete Course in Practical Political Economy in 1828–9. He also taught political economy successively from 1815 until his death in three Parisian establishments: the Athénée, the Conservatory of Arts and Trades, and the Collège de France. The texts in which Say exposes his approach to political economy have not been available in the English language until now except for the fourth edition of the ‘Preliminary Discourse’ which serves as an introduction to the Treatise. This book presents a translation which renders his works accessible to the English speaking world. For the first time, English readers will be able to become directly immersed in Say’s principal texts, where he develops his conception of political economy. Jean-Baptiste Say and Political Economy proposes a translation of a selection of eleven of Say’s texts. The first three are versions of the ‘Preliminary Discourse’ from the Treatise’s editions of 1803, 1814 and 1826 with the variations of the editions of 1817, 1819 and 1841. The following four texts are the opening discourses pronounced at the Conservatory in 1820 and 1828 and the Collège de France in 1831 and 1832. The eighth text is the ‘General Considerations’ which open the Complete Course in Practical Political Economy of 1828, with the variations of the 1840 re-edition. The final three texts are those Say devotes to ‘the progress of political economy’ in what is akin to a history of economic thought. This volume is of great importance to economic historians and people studying Jean-Baptiste Say, as well as those who are interested in economic theory and philosophy and political economy.
