Book Global Perspectives on Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education Institutions

Download or read book Global Perspectives on Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education Institutions written by Magd, Hesham and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2021-09-17 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quality accreditation in higher education institutions (HEIs) is currently a buzzword. The need to maintain high-quality education standards is a critical requirement for HEIs to remain competitive in the market and for government and regulatory bodies to ensure the quality standards of programs offered. From being an implicit requirement that is internally addressed, quality assurance activities become an explicit requirement that is regularly audited and appraised by national and international accreditation agencies. HEIs are voluntarily integrating quality management systems (QMS), institutional and program-specific, in response to the political and competitive environment in which it exists. Through its higher education department or by creating non-profitable accreditation bodies, many governments have implemented a quality framework for licensing HEIs and invigilates its adherence based on which accreditation statuses are granted for HEIs. Global Perspectives on Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education Institutions provides a comprehensive framework for HEIs to address quality assurance and quality accreditation requirements and serves as a practical tool to develop and deploy well-defined quality management systems in higher education. The book focuses on the critical aspects of quality assurance; the need to develop a concise and agile vision, mission, values, and graduate attributes; and to develop a system that effectively aligns the various activities of the HEI to the attainment of the strategic priorities listed in the institutional plans. The chapters each cover the various facets of the quality assurance framework and accreditation agencies' requirements with practical examples of each. This book is useful for HEI administrators, quality assurance specialists in HEIs, heads of academic departments, internal auditors, external auditors, and other practitioners of quality, along with stakeholders, researchers, academicians, and students interested in quality assurance and accreditation in higher education.

While emerging countries and their universities make every effort to enhance their capacity and boost their research performance, the academic superpowers endeavour to maintain - if not further improve- their global positions. “Building World-Class Universities: Different Approaches to a Shared Goal” intends to provide an in-depth picture of different approaches in pursuit of the shared goal of developing academic excellence, and to reflect the current trends in this field. Book Enhancing and Expanding Undergraduate Research A Systems Approach

Download or read book Enhancing and Expanding Undergraduate Research A Systems Approach written by Mitchell Malachowski and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-03-11 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Undergraduate research is a high-impact practice that sparks students’ interest in learning, and it improves retention, student success, graduation rates, and postgraduation achievement. Many individual campuses have offered these programs for several years, and the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) has partnered with state systems of higher education and public and private consortia to foster the institutionalization of undergraduate research. This volume illustrates many of the successes that entire systems/consortia and their campuses have achieved, such as: connecting undergraduate research to the curriculum, student success and completion, especially for underrepresented students creating cross-campus discussions on curricula and pedagogy, research collaborations among departments and campuses, and enhanced interdisciplinary activities addressing the challenges of workforce development and faculty issues—especially workload and tenure/promotion. This the 169th volume of the Jossey-Bass quarterly report series New Directions for Higher Education. Addressed to presidents, vice presidents, deans, and other higher education decision makers on all kinds of campuses, it provides timely information and authoritative advice about major issues and administrative problems confronting every institution.

Book Higher Education in the Global Age

Download or read book Higher Education in the Global Age written by Daniel Araya and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-11-20 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discussions on globalization now routinely focus on the economic impact of developing countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union and Latin America. Only twenty-five years ago, many developing countries were largely closed societies. Today, the growing power of “emerging markets” is reordering the geopolitical landscape. On a purchasing power parity basis, emerging economies now constitute half of the world’s economic activity. Financial markets too are seeing growing integration: Asia now accounts for 1/3 of world stock markets, more than double that of just 15 years ago. Given current trajectories, most economists predict that China and India alone will account for half of global output by 2050 (almost a complete return to their positions prior to the Industrial Revolution). How is higher education shaping and being shaped by these massive tectonic shifts? As education rises as a geopolitical priority, it has converged with discussions on economic policy and a global labor market. As part of the Routledge Studies in Emerging Societies series, this edited collection focuses on the globalization of higher education, particularly the increasing symbiosis between advanced and developing countries. Bringing together senior scholars, journalists, and practitioners from around the world, this collection explores the relatively new and changing higher education landscape.

Book Higher Education Policy in the Philippines and ASEAN Integration

Download or read book Higher Education Policy in the Philippines and ASEAN Integration written by Kolawole Samuel Adeyemo and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-09-16 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globalisation has brought a number of regional cooperation, collaboration, partnership and networking initiatives among different countries. The regionalisation of higher education or its initiators have used different terms to define their objectives. For Asian higher education, this relationship has extended beyond the broader idea of higher education cooperation for instance, to include different networks and agreements within region and outside region on matters related to research, student mobility and quality assurance among Asian countries and between Asia and other countries that share a similar vision on education. This book examines and analyses the status of education policy in the Philippines and, more particularly, focuses on the issue of the integration of higher education in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). It further examines ASEAN integration policies and what the Philippines could do to underpin these policies. The objective is to better understand the problems of global policy in the context of regionalisation, harmonisation and integration from both an ASEAN and a Philippine perspective. Prospective mechanisms of ASEAN for upgrading the quality of education provision through student mobility, staff exchange, regional accreditation and articulation are succinctly argued in this book. Methodologically, various research designs and methods, including a literature review, as a well as an empirical data and secondary data analysis were used. ASEAN leaders, higher education researchers and policymakers may find the results discussed in this book useful.

Book Quality Assessment and Enhancement in Higher Education in Africa

Download or read book Quality Assessment and Enhancement in Higher Education in Africa written by Peter Neema-Abooki and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-12-16 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores quality assessment and enhancement in higher education in Africa to illustrate the need to develop quality practices in measuring effective education and continually search for permanent improvement. The book demonstrates that technological and socio-economic trends, innovations, and inventions of the twenty-first century demand that additional attention be placed upon education for national, regional, and international development. Since conventions for quality assessment and enhancement need to be defined and systematic structures constructed to develop quality practices, the book shows how quality in higher education within Africa has been established and advanced to provide a framework for monitoring, auditing, and reviewing assessment and enhancement. Though the book considers African complexities and diversity, it incorporates global trends and utilises an international focus that enables readers to devise appropriate strategies for developing and enhancing quality and standards in higher education in both continental Africa and beyond. Illustrating why quality assessment and enhancement should be embraced in all aspects including inputs, processes, outputs and outcomes in educational settings globally, this book will be of interest to policymakers and scholars in the fields of Higher Education, Quality and Global Studies, African Education, African Studies and Management and Administration, Leadership and Professional Development Studies.
