Book Enhanced Ad Hoc On demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Network Internet Connectivitiy

Download or read book Enhanced Ad Hoc On demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Network Internet Connectivitiy written by Gobi Gurusamy and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ad hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile nodes dynamically forming a temporary network without the use of any existing netwrok infrastructure of centralized administration and consists of mobile nodes that use a wireless interface to communicate with each other. These mobile nodes serve as both and routers so they can forward packets on behalf of each other. Hence, the mobile nodes are able to communicate beyond their transmission range by supporting multi hop communication. However, the fact that there is no central infrastructure and that the devices can move randomly gives rise to various kinds of problem, such as routing and security and qualtiy of service (QoS). In this thesis the problem of routing is considered. An Ad-Hoc network has certain characteristics, which impose new demand on the routing protocol the most important characteristic is the dynamic topology, which is a consequence of node mobility. Nodes can change position quite frequently, which means that we need a routing protocol that quickly adapts to topology changes. The nodes in ad hoc network can consist of laptops and PDA (Personal Digital Assistants) and are often very limited in resources such as CPU capacity, storage capacity, battery power and bandwidth. This means that routing protocol should try to minimize control traffic, such as period update message. Instead the routing protocol should be reactive, thus only only calculate routes upon receiving a specific request. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IEFT) currently has a working group called mobile Ad hoc network (MANET) that is working on routing specification for Ad hoc networks. This thesis evaluates some of the routing protocols such as AODV (Ad hoc on demand Distance vector) and DSR (Dynamic Sources Routing) and DSDV (Destination Sequence Distance Vector) for performance testing and an enhanced implementation of AODV, which is able to detect Internet gateway in the proactive, reactive, and hybrid situation. This evaluation is done by by means of simulation using NS-2 developed by University California Berkeley. There are several ad hor routing protocols, such as AODV, DSR, and DSDV that propose solutions for routing within a mobile ad hoc network. However, since there is an interest in communication between not only mobile devices in an ad hoc network, but also between a mobile device in an ad hoc network and a fixed device in a field network (e.g. the Internet), the ad hoc routing protocols need to be modified. In this thesis the ad hoc routing protocol AODV is used to examine the interconnection between mobile ad hoc network and the Internet. For this purpose Network Simulator 2, NS 2, has been used. Moreover, three proposed approaches for gateway discovery are implemented; propose a forwarding algorithm, and route determination algorithm for default route and host route in MANET are investigated.

Book Comparison of Ad hoc on Demand Distance Vector and Enhanced ad hoc on Demand Distance Vector on Vehicular Ad hoc Networks

Download or read book Comparison of Ad hoc on Demand Distance Vector and Enhanced ad hoc on Demand Distance Vector on Vehicular Ad hoc Networks written by Tanmay Chandwasker and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: As the number of vehicles increases, so does the rate of accidents happening on the roads. In this project we have compared the performance statistics of Ad-hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol in vehicular networks and Enhanced-AODV protocol in vehicular networks, using the metrics such as end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio. The two major issues that concern the vehicular ad-hoc networks are connectivity between nodes and security of the data. As the vehicles are always moving, establishing and maintaining connection between them is a problem, which is solved using Enhanced-AODV. Security threats, such as sinkhole attack, that are faced in vehicular networks are countered using Hop-Count detection technique. Simulation of the network is done using Network Simulator, NS-2.34 and it indicates that the E-AODV improves the end-to-end delay by 2 seconds (10 % reduction) and increases the packet delivery ratio by 1.3 %.

Book Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks

Download or read book Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks written by Carlos de Morais Cordeiro and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2011 with total page 663 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive yet easy coverage of ad hoc and sensor networks and fills the gap of existing literature in this growing field. It emphasizes that there is a major interdependence among various layers of the network protocol stack. Contrary to wired or even one-hop cellular networks, the lack of a fixed infrastructure, the inherent mobility, the wireless channel, and the underlying routing mechanism by ad hoc and sensor networks introduce a number of technological challenges that are difficult to address within the boundaries of a single protocol layer. All existing textbooks on the subject often focus on a specific aspect of the technology, and fail to provide critical insights on cross-layer interdependencies. To fully understand these intriguing networks, one need to grasp specific solutions individually, and also the many interdependencies and cross-layer interactions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, a lot of work has been done in an effort to incorporate Swarm Intelligence (SI) techniques in building an adaptive routing protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs). Since centralized approach for routing in MANETs generally lacks in scalability and fault-tolerance, SI techniques provide a natural solution through a distributed approach for the adaptive routing for MANETs. In SI techniques, the captivating features of insects or mammals are correlated with the real world problems to find solutions. Recently, several applications of bio-inspired and nature-inspired algorithms in telecommunications and computer networks have achieved remarkable success. The main aims/objectives of this book, "Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Bio-Inspired Quality of Service Aware Routing Protocols", are twofold; firstly it clearly distinguishes between principles of traditional routing protocols and SI based routing protocols, while explaining in detail the analogy between MANETs and SI principles. Secondly, it presents the readers with important Quality of Service (QoS) parameters and explains how SI based routing protocols achieves QoS demands of the applications. This book also gives quantitative and qualitative analysis of some of the SI based routing protocols for MANETs.

Book Experimental study of Network based Novel Adaptive Routing Algorithm for Wireless Ad Hoc Network

Download or read book Experimental study of Network based Novel Adaptive Routing Algorithm for Wireless Ad Hoc Network written by jagrut solanki and published by Anchor Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-06-24 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ad hoc network is a collection of mobile nodes which dynamically form a temporary network without any infrastructure or centralize entity. There are number of routing protocol exists in ad hoc network and this protocols have been compared. These protocols are like DSR (Dynamic Source Routing), AODV (Ad-hoc On Demand Distance Vector Routing Algorithm), and TORA (Temporally Ordered Routing Algorithm) like more. AODV is Reactive routing protocol. We modify the existing AODV protocol. All Routing Protocol have different Strategies of routing like End to End delay, Packet delivery ratio, Traffic overhead and Power Consumptions. Routing Deals with route discovery between source and destination. Aim of Dissertation is to improve route error tolerance mechanism of AODV. In our propose scheme the transmission starts from closest neighbor node if the link fail in middle of the transmission. That shows very important reductions in delay and it improves the packet delivery ratio. It also reduces the routing overhead by reducing frequency of route discovery process.

To realize this, the real challenge would be the security, authorization and management issues of the large scale WSNs. This book is an edited volume in the broad area of WSNs. The book covers various chapters like Multi-Channel Wireless Sensor Networks, its Coverage, Connectivity as well as Deployment. It covers comparison of various communication protocols and algorithms such as MANNET, ODMRP and ADMR Protocols for Ad hoc Multicasting, Location Based Coordinated Routing Protocol and other Token based group local mutual exclusion Algorithms. The book also covers a chapter on Extended Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (EAODV) routing protocol based on Distributed Minimum Transmission Multicast Routing (DMTMR). One chapter is dedicated to OCDMA and its future application and another chapter covers development of Home Automation System using SWN.

Book Enhanced AODV EN AODV in Ad Hoc Networks

Download or read book Enhanced AODV EN AODV in Ad Hoc Networks written by Manisha Yeshwanth and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A set of wireless nodes or routers coming together to form a network in which every node acts as a router can be defined as a mobile ad hoc network (MANET). Mobility causes a number of issues in ad hoc networks. To overcome this, routing protocols using various mobility metrics have been suggested. One such protocol is proposed in this thesis, whereby the most commonly used ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing protocol is modified so that it uses the mobility metric "route lifetime" as a routing metric In addition, the route cache timeout or the route expiry timeout is set to the value of the route lifetime. To achieve this, the value of the route lifetime is calculated and then implemented appropriately in AODV. Simulations in the Global Mobile Information System Simulator (GloMoSim), a network protocol simulation software that simulates wireless and wired network systems, demonstrate an increase in packet delivery ratio and a decrease in mean end-to-end latency, in comparison to the AODV protocol. This is achieved with a slight increase in control overhead.

Book Development of Routing Protocols for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Download or read book Development of Routing Protocols for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks written by Dhirendra Kumar Sharma and published by Sankalp Publication. This book was released on with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the focus is on the analysis and design of efficient, adaptive, and scalable routing protocols for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. Next section presents the objective of the work performed in the context of this book. The main objective of this book is to develop routing protocols, which are appropriate for challenging environment of mobile ad-hoc networks. Given the inherent characteristics of these networks, the solutions must be adaptable to dynamic topologies, efficient with the bandwidth usage, scalable and energy efficient when various network parameters are concerned. Moreover, the focus is also on realistic approaches having relevance in real-life deployments. This means that the protocols should not be designed merely based on generic assumptions, which could lead to incorrect conclusions. Network Simulator (ns2.34) is the tools, which are used to determine that the developed algorithms are implementable in real networks. For validation in ad hoc networks, a specific scenario should also be mentioned for which the routing protocol has been designed. Meeting of these objectives includes providing the perception of the realities of ad-hoc networking. In addition, the proposed solutions should be compared against corresponding solutions found in the literature. New solutions must offer better performance with respect to others, to be able to contribute something to the research community. To summarize, the main goal of this book is to improve the knowledge in ad-hoc networking by providing solutions, which can help in developing new features for MANETs. This book will give the details of the methodology employed to achieve the goals.

Book Connectivity Prediction in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks for Real Time Control

Download or read book Connectivity Prediction in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks for Real Time Control written by Sebastian Thelen and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2015-09-21 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cyber-physical systems are the next step in realizing the centuries old ubiquitous computing idea by focusing on open real-time systems design and device connectivity. Mobile ad hoc networks offer the flexible, local connectivity that cyber-physical systems require, if the connectivity can be realized dependably. One aspect of the dependability is the prediction of connectivity in the mobile ad hoc network. The presented research contributes to the connectivity prediction in mobile ad hoc networks with moving network participants in two ways: It systematically analyses the influence of scenario parameters on a set of connectivity metrics and it proposes and evaluates three classes of prediction models for these metrics.
