This book was released on 2015-08-05 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Engineers Surveying Instruments, Their Construction, and Use It is proposed, to give a series of articles on the best methods of constructing, adjusting, and using different engineering field instruments. The intention is to make the language so simple and clear that all can understand, and at the same time make it something more than an elementary discussion, and not a re-statement of matter found in ordinary text books and engineering manuals. It is not necessary to dwell upon the importance to the engineer of a knowledge of the best forms of construction and of a thorough understanding of the principles which govern the adjustments of his instruments, and of course the engineer should be an expert in handling his instruments. The Platte Table. This instrument is not properly appreciated by the engineering profession. In a general way it is understood to be employed in the surveys, geodetical, topographical and geological, made by the general government, but it seems to be very well understood that the plane table is both useful and available in many cases in ordinary practice. Book Surveying Instruments and their Operational Principles

Download or read book Surveying Instruments and their Operational Principles written by L. Fialovszky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 757 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book gives a detailed theoretical background of the constructional principles of instruments necessary for the most general tasks of surveying. Undergraduate and graduate students will find it very useful in surveying studies to get acquainted with the broad variety of instruments, both classical and new ones. At the same time, specialists in surveying will also find the book full of new material. The book contains about 600 pictures, including photographs and detailed descriptions of the most representative types of instrumentation. Older types of instruments already out of use, or used only occasionally, are described in broad outline, mentioning basic principles, methods of testing and possibilities for their modernization. New categories of instruments, such as gyroscopes, compensation levelling instruments, electronic theodolites, distance meters and tacheometers, are dealt with in more detail. Care has been taken to include the automation which is rapidly spreading in all fields of instrument manufacture, being necessary to reduce manual operations. The book is intended for builders, architects, technicians, teachers of surveying and professional manufacturers.

Book Surveying and Levelling Instruments Theoretically and Practically Described

Download or read book Surveying and Levelling Instruments Theoretically and Practically Described written by William Ford Stanley and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-21 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Surveying and Levelling Instruments, Theoretically and Practically Described: For Construction, Qualities, Selection, Preservation, Adjustments, and Uses; With Other Apparatus and Appliances Used by Civil Engineers and Surveyors Notes were taken for many years before the production of this work of queries that came before the author for reply relative to functional parts of surveying instruments. These bore most frequently reference to optical and magnetical subjects, and to the qualities and action of spirit level tubes, also occasionally to graduation and the qualities of clamp and tangent motions. It was therefore thought that it would be useful to give notes upon these subjects in detail as far as possible in early chapters. As the work proceeded it was found that this plan saved much space in avoiding the necessity for separate description when parts of complex instruments were afterwards described. To show the state of the art and render the work useful, it was necessary that the structure of surveying instruments should be given with sufficient detail to be worked out by the skilful manufacturer. Beyond this it was thought to be most important that the professional man, who must have limited experience of the qualities of workmanship, should be supplied with as many simple tests as possible for assuring the qualities of the instruments he might purchase or use, with details also of their adjustments.
