Book Engineering Flight Test AH 1G Helicopter HueyCobra Phase D Part 3 Vibration Characteristics

Download or read book Engineering Flight Test AH 1G Helicopter HueyCobra Phase D Part 3 Vibration Characteristics written by Rodger L. Finnestead and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Phase D, Part 3 Airworthiness and Qualification Aircraft Vibration Tests of the AH-1G Helicopter were conducted. Six vibration parameters were evaluated to determine model specification compliance and mission suitability information for inclusion in technical manuals and other publications. The vibration levels of the AH-1G met all requirements of the detail model specification; however, a reduction in the vibration levels at airspeeds from maximum level-flight airspeed (VH) to limit airspeed (VL) is desirable for improved mission suitability. The detail model specification did not require any specific vibration levels at airspeeds other than VH. Future detail model specifications should contain vibration limits for all flight conditions and aircraft configurations.

Book Calculation of Flight Vibration Levels of the Ah 1g Helicopter and Correlation with Existing Flight Vibration Measurements

Download or read book Calculation of Flight Vibration Levels of the Ah 1g Helicopter and Correlation with Existing Flight Vibration Measurements written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-23 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NASA-Langley is sponsoring a rotorcraft structural dynamics program with the objective to establish in the U.S. a superior capability to utilize finite element analysis models for calculations to support industrial design of helicopter airframe structures. In the initial phase of the program, teams from the major U.S. manufacturers of helicopter airframes will apply extant finite element analysis methods to calculate loads and vibrations of helicopter airframes, and perform correlations between analysis and measurements. The aforementioned rotorcraft structural dynamics program was given the acronym DAMVIBS (Design Analysis Method for Vibrations). Sikorsky's RDYNE Rotorcraft Dynamics Analysis used for the correlation study, the specifics of the application of RDYNE to the AH-1G, and comparisons of the predictions of the method with flight data for loads and vibrations on the AH-1G are described. RDYNE was able to predict trends of variations of loads and vibrations with airspeed, but in some instances magnitudes differed from measured results by factors of two or three to one. Sensitivities were studied of predictions to rotor inflow modeling, effects of torsional modes, number of blade bending modes, fuselage structural damping, and hub modal content. Book Marines and Helicopters 1962 1973

Download or read book Marines and Helicopters 1962 1973 written by Usmc Lieutenant Colonel William Fails and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-06-06 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This history traces the development of helicopters in the Marine Corps from 1962 to 1973 and is the second in a series of two volumes which between them cover the story of Marines and helicopters from 1946 to the present. In the period covered by this volume, the Marines at last acquired helicopters fully capable of carrying out an amphibious vertical assault, and they further elaborated their helicopter doctrines and tactics. In the Vietnam war, pilots and machines met and surmounted the test of actual combat. The documentary basis for this monograph was primarily the official records of the Marine Corps and Navy Department, but considerable use was made of interviews and correspondence with key individuals involved in all phases of helicopter development. One of the most pervasive characteristics of man is hindsight. It masquerades under many guises: Mon day morning quarterbacking, second guessing, and historical writing. When viewed through time, the past becomes distorted. Problems seem simpler, the choices more clear, and the conditions less complex than those of the present. The men who played a part become more heroic or more villainous than they were in life. This volume is an attempt to portray accurately the difficulties faced and the obstacles conquered by the men who developed helicopters in the Marine Corps, so that the Marines of today and the future may meet the challenges of their own times with the same dedication as their predecessors. The men who developed helicopters in the Marine Corps had nothing more to rely on than their knowledge of what had preceded them, intelligence liberally used, and both mental and physical courage. The present-day Marine will be well served if he applies nothing more.
