Book Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering 2

Download or read book Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering 2 written by J. Middleton and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-09-11 with total page 856 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contains papers presented at the Third International Symposium on Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering (1997), which provide evidence that computer-based models, and in particular numerical methods, are becoming essential tools for the solution of many problems encountered in the field of biomedical engineering. The range of subject areas presented include the modeling of hip and knee joint replacements, assessment of fatigue damage in cemented hip prostheses, nonlinear analysis of hard and soft tissue, methods for the simulation of bone adaptation, bone reconstruction using implants, and computational techniques to model human impact. Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering also details the application of numerical techniques applied to orthodontic treatment together with introducing new methods for modeling and assessing the behavior of dental implants, adhesives, and restorations. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hypermobility of Joints 4th Edition follows the same format as its successful predecessors. The aim of which was to provide an overview of hyperlaxity of joints and this edition follows that aim by describing the most recent research and new developments in biochemistry, as well as providing practical advice on clinical features and management. Hypermobility of Joints 4th Edition provides illustrative case histories, a review of hypermobility in the performing arts and sports and an outline of heritable hypermobility syndromes. This book is a valuable reference tool for a wide number of specialties, although it will particularly be of interest to rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons and medical geneticists.

Book Hypermobility of Joints

  • Author : Rodney Grahame
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2013-03-14
  • ISBN : 1447139003

Download or read book Hypermobility of Joints written by Rodney Grahame and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Joint hypermobility, joint laxity or "double-jointedness" is no longer regarded as just a quaint clinical entity, but has gained recognition as a feature common to a heterogeneous group of generalized hereditary connective tissue disorders. This monograph examines the scientific basis, clinical features and treatment of this syndrome. The second edition has been thoroughly updated, with new contributions to cover in depth three areas in which new scientific advances have been made: biochemistry, genetics, and biomechanics. The case histories make fascinating reading, and the comprehensive coverage of the rarer hereditary disorders provides a valuable reference. From the reviews of the first edition: "This little book deals with a somewhat neglected subject and will prove useful in a number of ways." British Journal of Plastic Surgery #1 "This is a delightful book full of stimulating ideas, by three authors who have pooled their thoughts and the results of their studies." Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine #2

Download or read book Total Knee Replacement written by Shigeo Niwa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Back in September of 1974, I acquired much valuable information while attending the International Conference on Total Knee Replacement in London, which was organized by The Medical Engineering Working Party and the Tribology Group of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and the British Orthopaedic Association. I was greatly inspired by the conference, and it formed the beginning of my studies on total knee replacement. The co-editors of this proceedings, Prof. J. Paul and Dr. S. Yamamoto, are both acquaintances made originally at that conference. The International Symposium on Total Knee Replacement held in Nagoya, Japan, on 18-19 May 1987 was attended by many participants, including Prof. Walker, who had presented his studies earlier in London. During the past decade and a half, remarkable technical progress has been made in total knee prostheses. In this symposium, cemented total knee replacement (TKR), noncemented TKR, design considerations of total knee prostheses, problems concerning the patello femoral joint, and the newly developed total knee prosthesis were the main topics discussed. I believe that much new information, including that about the challenges which still remain, along with a fresh view towards continuing studies, are presented here for the reader. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the support of the Knee Joint Research Society in Japan and to the participants in the symposium for their great help in publishing this book.
