Book excerpt: A component specific modeling software program has been developed for propulsion systems. This expert program is capable of formulating the component geometry as finite element meshes for structural analysis which, in the future, can be spun off as NURB geometry for manufacturing. COSMO currently has geometry recipes for combustors, turbine blades, vanes, and disks. Component geometry recipes for nozzles, inlets, frames, shafts, and ducts are being added. COSMO uses component recipes that work through neutral files with the Technology Benefit Estimator (T/BEST) program which provides the necessary base parameters and loadings. This report contains the users manual for combustors, turbine blades, vanes, and disks. Mcknight, R. L. and Maffeo, R. J. and Schwartz, S. Unspecified Center...

Book Structural Analysis Systems

Download or read book Structural Analysis Systems written by A. Niku-Lari and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-17 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural Analysis Systems: Software—Hardware Capability—Compatibility—Applications, Volume 3 is a practical guidebook on structural analysis systems and their applications. It provides detailed information about a specific software, its postprocessor capabilities and limitations, computer-aided design connection, and compatibility with the most common computers. Several practical examples from industry with computer and user cost are given. This volume consists of 20 chapters and begins with a description of ALSA, a general purpose finite element computer program for accurate large order structural analysis. The discussion then turns to BEFE, a general purpose program for the static analysis of structures and solids using the finite element method, the boundary element method, or a combination of the two. The following chapters focus on other computer programs such as BEWAVE, CASTEM, FEMFAM, FEMPAC, and OSTIN for applications ranging from finite element analysis to seismic analysis. This book will be a useful resource for practitioners in scientific and industrial disciplines such as mechanical or civil engineering, informatics, applied mathematics, and computer science.

Book Enhancement Upgrade of Engine Structures Technology Best Estimator Est Best Software System

Download or read book Enhancement Upgrade of Engine Structures Technology Best Estimator Est Best Software System written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-05-31 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the work performed during the contract period and the capabilities included in the EST/BEST software system. The developed EST/BEST software system includes the integrated NESSUS, IPACS, COBSTRAN, and ALCCA computer codes required to perform the engine cycle mission and component structural analysis. Also, the interactive input generator for NESSUS, IPACS, and COBSTRAN computer codes have been developed and integrated with the EST/BEST software system. The input generator allows the user to create input from scratch as well as edit existing input files interactively. Since it has been integrated with the EST/BEST software system, it enables the user to modify EST/BEST generated files and perform the analysis to evaluate the benefits. Appendix A gives details of how to use the newly added features in the EST/BEST software system.Shah, AshwinGlenn Research CenterCOMPUTER SYSTEMS PROGRAMS; SOFTWARE ENGINEERING; COMPUTER PROGRAMMING; AERODYNAMICS; STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS; ENGINE TESTS; GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE; PROBABILITY THEORY; DAMAGE; SYSTEMS INTEGRATION; PERFORMANCE TESTS; LOADS (FORCES)

This book was released on 2018-07-24 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ESMOSS is a specialized software system for the construction of geometric descriptive and discrete analytical models of engine parts, components and substructures which can be transferred to finite element analysis programs such as NASTRAN. The software architecture of ESMOSS is designed in modular form with a central executive module through which the user controls and directs the development of the analytical model. Modules consist of a geometric shape generator, a library of discretization procedures, interfacing modules to join both geometric and discrete models, a deck generator to produce input for NASTRAN and a 'recipe' processor which generates geometric models from parametric definitions. ESMOSS can be executed both in interactive and batch modes. Interactive mode is considered to be the default mode and that mode will be assumed in the discussion in this document unless stated otherwise. Book Computer Aided Optimum Design in Engineering XII

Download or read book Computer Aided Optimum Design in Engineering XII written by S. Hernandez and published by WIT Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presenting the latest research discussed at the Twelfth International Conference on Computer Aided Optimum Design in Engineering, this book contains papers describing case studies in engineering; considering static, dynamic analysis and damage tolerance. Manufacturing and structural protection issues are discussed as well as emergent applications in fields such as biomechanics. Contributions also include numerical methods and different optimisation techniques.Nowadays, it is widely accepted that optimisation techniques have much to offer to those involved in the design of new industrial products. The formulation of optimum design has evolved from the time it was purely an academic topic, unable now to satisfy the requirements of real life prototypes. The development of new algorithms, the improvement of others, the appearance of powerful commercial computer codes with easy to use graphical interfaces and the revolution in the speed of computers has created a fertile field for the incorporation of optimisation in the design process in different engineering disciplines Topics covered include: Structural optimisation, Optimisation in biomechanics, Shape and topology optimisation, Industrial design optimisation cases, Evolutionary methods in design optimisation, Multi-level optimisation, Multidisciplinary optimisation, Reliability based optimisation, Material optimisation, Aerospace structures, Applications in mechanical and car engineering, New and enhanced formulations, Optimisation under extreme forces, Optimisation in aerodynamics, Optimisation in civil engineering, Life cost optimisation, Education issues in design optimisation, Commercial software for design optimisation.
