Book Arithmetical Rings and Endomorphisms

Download or read book Arithmetical Rings and Endomorphisms written by Askar Tuganbaev and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2019-06-04 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive account of not necessarily commutative arithmetical rings, examining structural and homological properties of modules over arithmetical rings and summarising the interplay between arithmetical rings and other rings, whereas modules with extension properties of submodule endomorphisms are also studied in detail. Graduate students and researchers in ring and module theory will find this book particularly valuable.

Book Textile Systems for Endomorphisms and Automorphisms of the Shift

Download or read book Textile Systems for Endomorphisms and Automorphisms of the Shift written by Masakazu Nasu and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We introduce the notion of a textile system. Using this, we study the dynamical properties of endomorphisms and automorphisms of topological Markov shifts including one-sided ones. The dynamical properties of automorphisms of sofic systems are also studied.

Book Transfer Operators Endomorphisms and Measurable Partitions

Download or read book Transfer Operators Endomorphisms and Measurable Partitions written by Sergey Bezuglyi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-21 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of this book stands at the crossroads of ergodic theory and measurable dynamics. With an emphasis on irreversible systems, the text presents a framework of multi-resolutions tailored for the study of endomorphisms, beginning with a systematic look at the latter. This entails a whole new set of tools, often quite different from those used for the “easier” and well-documented case of automorphisms. Among them is the construction of a family of positive operators (transfer operators), arising naturally as a dual picture to that of endomorphisms. The setting (close to one initiated by S. Karlin in the context of stochastic processes) is motivated by a number of recent applications, including wavelets, multi-resolution analyses, dissipative dynamical systems, and quantum theory. The automorphism-endomorphism relationship has parallels in operator theory, where the distinction is between unitary operators in Hilbert space and more general classes of operators such as contractions. There is also a non-commutative version: While the study of automorphisms of von Neumann algebras dates back to von Neumann, the systematic study of their endomorphisms is more recent; together with the results in the main text, the book includes a review of recent related research papers, some by the co-authors and their collaborators.

Book The Group Fixed by a Family of Injective Endomorphisms of a Free Group

Download or read book The Group Fixed by a Family of Injective Endomorphisms of a Free Group written by Warren Dicks and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph contains a proof of the Bestvina-Handel Theorem (for any automorphism of a free group of rank n, the fixed group has rank at most n) that to date has not been available in book form. The account is self contained, simplified, purely algebraic, and extends the results to an arbitrary family of injective endomorphisms. The topological proof by Bestvina Handel is translated into the language of groupoids, and many details previously left to the reader are meticulously verified in this text.

Book Tensor Categories and Endomorphisms of von Neumann Algebras

Download or read book Tensor Categories and Endomorphisms of von Neumann Algebras written by Marcel Bischoff and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-01-13 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: C* tensor categories are a point of contact where Operator Algebras and Quantum Field Theory meet. They are the underlying unifying concept for homomorphisms of (properly infinite) von Neumann algebras and representations of quantum observables. The present introductory text reviews the basic notions and their cross-relations in different contexts. The focus is on Q-systems that serve as complete invariants, both for subfactors and for extensions of quantum field theory models. It proceeds with various operations on Q-systems (several decompositions, the mirror Q-system, braided product, centre and full centre of Q-systems) some of which are defined only in the presence of a braiding. The last chapter gives a brief exposition of the relevance of the mathematical structures presented in the main body for applications in Quantum Field Theory (in particular two-dimensional Conformal Field Theory, also with boundaries or defects).

Download or read book Introduction to Algebra written by R. Kochendorffer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended as a textbook for an undergraduate course on algebra. In most universities a detailed study ·of abstract algebraic systems commences in the second year. By this time the student has gained some experience in mathematical reasoning so that a too elementary book would rob him of the joy and the stimulus of using his ability. I tried to make allowance for this when I chose t4e level of presentation. On the other hand, I hope that I also avoided discouraging the reader by demands which are beyond his strength. So, the first chapters will certainly not require more mathematical maturity than can reasonably be expected after the first year at the university. Apart from one exception the formal prerequisites do not exceed the syllabus of an average high school. As to the exception, I assume that the reader is familiar with the rudiments of linear algebra, i. e. addition and multiplication of matrices and the main properties of determinants. In view of the readers for whom the book is designed I felt entitled to this assumption. In the first chapters, matrices will almost exclusively occur in examples and exercises providing non-trivial instances in the theory of groups and rings. In Chapters 9 and 10 only, vector spaces and their properties will form a relevant part of the text. A reader who is not familiar with these concepts will have no difficulties in acquiring these prerequisites by any elementary textbook, e. g. [10].
