God has led him, a big sinner saved by His grace, to journal this book titled "Divine Encounters @ Marketplace", epitomes the miracles of Chr1st, nations, marketplace, people and life-on-life over 41 years since his spiritual birth in 1974. Reader Reviews: "I first met Stanley in the summer 2019 in London UK, he passed on his book to me. As I began to read, I realise the rich revelation that it contained, I have recommended this book to many people. The message and revelation and testimony it contains is life changing. " The Very Reverend Alan Dickinson OSL (Newcastle, UK) “After reading a few chapters, I thought to myself : there are 3 possibilities about Stanley - a deluded man, a lunatic or a prophet. After reading half the book and conversing with him for 2 hours, I concluded that he is indeed a prophet and a man of God.” Prof Low Kee Yang (Singapore) “My friend Stanley Cheng’s book will inspire you and encourage you. Based on his extensive (and at times amazing) experience as a follower of Jesus Christ – you will not be disappointed. Equally important, Stanley is a man who ‘walks the talk’ – a man whose life reflects the love and wisdom and joy of Christ. Enjoy!!!” The Honorable Gregory W. Slayton (USA) Former US Ambassador Founder & Chairman of Family First Global “My Pastor passed your book to me and I could not put it down. A prophetic evangelist in the marketplace. Book Women in the Hindu Tradition

Download or read book Women in the Hindu Tradition written by Mandakranta Bose and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2010-01-19 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book accounts for the origin and evolution of the nature and roles of women within the Hindu belief system. It explains how the idea of the goddess has been derived from Hindu philosophical ideas and texts of codes of conduct and how particular models of conduct for mortal women have been created. Hindu religious culture correlates philosophical speculation and social imperatives to situate femininity on a continuum from divine to mortal existence. This creates in the Hindu consciousness multiple - often contradictory - images of women, both as wielders and subjects of authority. The conception and evolution of the major Hindu goddesses, placed against the judgments passed by texts of Hindu sacred law on women’s nature and duties, illuminate the Hindu discourse on gender, the complexity of which is compounded by the distinctive spirituality of female ascetic poets. Drawing on a wide range of Sanskrit texts, the author explains how the idea of the goddess has been derived from Hindu philosophical ideas and also from the social roles of women as reflected in, and prescribed by, texts of codes of conduct. She examines the idea of female divinity which gave rise to models of conduct for mortal women. Instead of a one-way order of ideological derivation, the author argues that there is constant traffic between both ways the notional and the actual feminine. This book brings together for the first time a wide range of material and offers fresh stimulating interpretations of women in the Hindu Tradition.

Book Global Encounters

    Book Details:
  • Author : Iris Guske
  • Publisher : Cambridge Scholars Publishing
  • Release : 2011-05-25
  • ISBN : 1443830127
  • Pages : 450 pages

Download or read book Global Encounters written by Iris Guske and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2011-05-25 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scholars throughout the world have come together again in a second book to share their most successful teaching practices and concerns in the areas of cross-cultural studies and international education. Many disciplines are represented and diverse subjects are discussed: science literacy and worldview perspective; second-language acquisition, student mobility, and international universities; teacher professional development and government programs for disadvantaged children; zoos, industrial paintings, and dress designs as cultural artifacts. Presentations on these topics are the result of papers given at the annual meeting of the Worldwide Forum on Education and Culture, founded 10 years ago in Rome, Italy. The organization regularly attracts some 100 scholars and practitioners in the fields of education, literacy, language learning, communication and (inter-)cultural studies from all five continents to its annual congress in Rome. These conferences, as well as this up-to-date compilation of multi-disciplinary academic papers, are meant to highlight the growing need for culturally sensitive education that draws on the strengths of both traditional teaching methods and technology-rich forms of instruction, as well as a host of national and international programs designed to empower teachers and students alike. Engaged educators, whose research and/or critical discourse in classrooms all over the world has given rise to the present volume, thus hope to share with a wider audience how they impart knowledge, foster skills, and nurture qualities in the next generation of global citizens that will enable them to negotiate their personal and professional lives in our modern world. Even though communities may no longer be characterized by physical distances as barriers to communicative interchanges, perceived and real rifts between different cultures are nevertheless coming alarmingly close to preventing meaningful communication from bringing about true understanding at the individual and societal levels. The ontogenesis of the Worldwide Forum on Education and Culture is seen here clearly in the perspectives and presentations of diverse academics who are dedicated to teaching and learning toward the greater goal, as Matthew Arnold said in Literature and Science, of “knowing ourselves and the world.”

Book Celestial Encounters

    Book Details:
  • Author : Florin Diacu
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press
  • Release : 2020-12-08
  • ISBN : 0691221839
  • Pages : 255 pages

Download or read book Celestial Encounters written by Florin Diacu and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2020-12-08 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Celestial Encounters is for anyone who has ever wondered about the foundations of chaos. In 1888, the 34-year-old Henri Poincaré submitted a paper that was to change the course of science, but not before it underwent significant changes itself. "The Three-Body Problem and the Equations of Dynamics" won a prize sponsored by King Oscar II of Sweden and Norway and the journal Acta Mathematica, but after accepting the prize, Poincaré found a serious mistake in his work. While correcting it, he discovered the phenomenon of chaos. Starting with the story of Poincaré's work, Florin Diacu and Philip Holmes trace the history of attempts to solve the problems of celestial mechanics first posed in Isaac Newton's Principia in 1686. In describing how mathematical rigor was brought to bear on one of our oldest fascinations--the motions of the heavens--they introduce the people whose ideas led to the flourishing field now called nonlinear dynamics. In presenting the modern theory of dynamical systems, the models underlying much of modern science are described pictorially, using the geometrical language invented by Poincaré. More generally, the authors reflect on mathematical creativity and the roles that chance encounters, politics, and circumstance play in it.

Book Chemical Kinetics Beyond The Textbook

Download or read book Chemical Kinetics Beyond The Textbook written by Katja Lindenberg and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2019-08-27 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Processes involving randomly moving particles, which react either upon encounter or via distance-dependent reaction rates, are ubiquitous in nature. A few stray examples are recombination of ions or holes and electrons, excitation energy migration and quenching, trapping of particles by other species, coagulation, binding of ligands and proteins to specific sites, chemotaxis, catalytically-induced self-propulsion, polymerization, growth of dendrites or aggregates, or nuclei of a new phase.Several decades ago, it was recognized that the kinetic behavior in some systems with reactions and random transport is strongly affected by many factors, which were not taken into account in previous studies. These are, to name but a few, fluctuations in the spatial distributions of the reactants and fluctuations of the reactivity, some essentially many-particle phenomena, effects of anomalous diffusion, molecular crowding, as well as the internal geometry of the reaction bath. Within recent years, along with a growing interest in chemical processes ocurring in biological systems or cellular environments, numerous advances have been made and considerable knowledge has been acquired. These seminal contributions are, however, scattered among many journals and no attempt has been made so far to present a unified picture. This book presents a general overview of different contemporary facets of chemical kinetics in a variety of different environments. It includes 23 seminal works and reviews on different aspects of reaction processes in chemical, physical and biophysical systems, both theoretical and experimental.

Book Intercultural Encounters

    Book Details:
  • Author : Wim M. J. van Binsbergen
  • Publisher : LIT Verlag Münster
  • Release : 2003
  • ISBN : 9783825867836
  • Pages : 618 pages

Download or read book Intercultural Encounters written by Wim M. J. van Binsbergen and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2003 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together fifteen essays investigating aspects of interculturality. Like its author, it operates at the borderline between social anthropology and intercultural philosophy. It seeks to make a contribution to intercultural philosophy, by formulating with great precision and painful honesty the lessons deriving from extensive intercultural experiences as an anthropologist. Its culminating section presents an intercultural philosophy revolving on the tenet 'cultures do not exist'. The kaleidoscopic nature of intercultural experiences is reflected in the diversity of these texts. Many belong to a field that could be described as "meta-anthropology", others are more clearly philosophical; occasionally they spill over into belles lettres, ancient history, and comparative cultural and religious studies. The ethnographic specifics supporting the arguments are diverse, deriving from various African situations in which the author has conducted participatory field research (Tunisia, Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa).

Book Encounters of Mind

  • Author : Douglas L. Berger
  • Publisher : SUNY Press
  • Release : 2015-02-23
  • ISBN : 1438454732
  • Pages : 264 pages

Download or read book Encounters of Mind written by Douglas L. Berger and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 2015-02-23 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discusses the journey of Buddhist ideas on awareness and personhood from India to China. Encounters of Mind explores a crucial step in the philosophical journey of Buddhism from India to China, and what influence this step, once taken, had on Chinese thought in a broader scope. The relationship of concepts of mind, or awareness, to the constitution of personhood in Chinese traditions of reflection was to change profoundly after the Cognition School of Buddhism made its way to China during the sixth century. India’s Buddhist philosophers had formulated the idea that, in order for human beings to achieve perfect enlightenment, they had to produce a state of awareness through practice that they described as “luminous.” However, once introduced to the Chinese tradition, the concept of the “luminous mind” was to become a condition already found within human nature for the possibility of achieving human ideals. This notion of the luminous mind was to have far-reaching significance both for Chinese Buddhism and for medieval Confucianism. Douglas L. Berger follows the transforming path of conceptions of the luminosity of consciousness and the perfectibility of personhood in order to bring into clearer relief the history of Indian and Chinese philosophical dialogue, as well as in the hope that such dialogue will be reignited.
