Download or read book Empowering Leadership written by Michael Fletcher and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2018-01-23 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A major problem in the local church today is lack of leadership. Simply put, we have more needs than we have leaders to meet those needs. So, how do we train better leaders faster? The truth is, very few churches really have a well-thought-out leadership development plan. Growth requires continually adding healthy new leaders, who carry the church culture forward and embody its core values. Everyone knows it, but how do we achieve it? In Empowering Leadership author and leadership consultant Michael Fletcher says leaders like this can't simply be bought, nor can they be hired from someone else's leadership assembly line. Developing leaders at every level, to create an environment that attracts potential leaders, and to build better leaders faster, an organization needs more than a pipeline. It needs a culture that develops leaders organically. Finding the right kind of leaders to guide your church on a path of continual growth comes out of keeping the right focus, and that focus is not just on the leaders. In fact, as Fletcher says, It isn't about the leader. It never was about the leader. It will never be about the leader. It will always and only be about Jesus and his people. It's about the people. True leadership development includes the often messy, but necessary, interaction of life upon life. So hiring pastors and key staff roles from within the church is the very best policy—people who "breathe" the culture of the church and who have helped create the culture you want to maintain. If your church or organization needs a good leadership development structure, then you're holding the right book. Empowering Leadership details Michael's greatest insights on how to build better leaders faster by creating a leadership development culture in your church or organization—naturally, organically, continually. Empower your church or organization through great leadership. This book will show you how!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Children in today's world are inundated with information about who to be, what to do and how to live. But what if there was a way to teach children how to manage priorities, focus on goals and be a positive influence on the world around them? The Leader in Meis that programme. It's based on a hugely successful initiative carried out at the A.B. Combs Elementary School in North Carolina. To hear the parents of A. B Combs talk about the school is to be amazed. In 1999, the school debuted a programme that taught The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Peopleto a pilot group of students. The parents reported an incredible change in their children, who blossomed under the programme. By the end of the following year the average end-of-grade scores had leapt from 84 to 94. This book will launch the message onto a much larger platform. Stephen R. Covey takes the 7 Habits, that have already changed the lives of millions of people, and shows how children can use them as they develop. Those habits -- be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win-win, seek to understand and then to be understood, synergize, and sharpen the saw -- are critical skills to learn at a young age and bring incredible results, proving that it's never too early to teach someone how to live well.

Book excerpt: As older church leaders, we’ve been told a million times that the Millennials and Gen Xers who are coming up behind us don’t think like we think. We don’t get it and it frustrates us. Guess what? We need to get over it and let it go. Because, get this: it’s up to us to mentor and empower the generations that follow us into church leadership. Sadly, many of us are doing just the opposite; we’re turning them away. So, not only do we need to let go of our ways of doing things, we need to release our young leaders…release them to be the leaders they know they can be. Unleash provides thought-provoking ideas and practical, real-time examples that will help us learn to know, equip, and expectantly release our younger church leaders into the future with trust and confidence. I am completely weary of dismissive and demeaning articles and books focused on the weak, lazy, entitled character of Millennials and Gen Z.This book is different -- it's helpful and hopeful. I'm glad to have a book to recommend to people leading younger generations into their full capacities - Mark Oestreicher, Partner, The Youth Cartel Marv Nelson knows that unleashing young leaders must come from an accurate awareness of their emotional, mental and spiritual capabilities plus the right amount of equipping, encouragement and trust. This book is a valuable resource. - Michael Frost, author, Surprise the World

Book Youth Leadership

    Book Details:
  • Author : Melissa Romero
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2002
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 130 pages

Download or read book Youth Leadership written by Melissa Romero and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leadership skills benefit all students but do all students have access to leadership training? Do schools support diverse leadership? This case study seeks to address these questions by researching more inclusive means of empowering diverse student leaders via participation-observations at a Diversity Summit student leadership conference and follow-up with one secondary school in Eastern King County. To determine the level of support students need and received anonymous surveys, observations, and interviews were conducted and analyzed. The findings from this study suggest that all schools have issues concerning diversity but some schools support exploration of these issues by empowering students through shared vision, skill-building, and community building. The findings also suggest that not all students and staff have the same perceptions about leadership potential in students and in turn students have different motivation for becoming involved in youth leadership.
